They Need Your Help

About a month and a week ago, the Calatagan farmers left their homes in Calatagan Batangas to assert their land rights over 507 hectares of land being grabbed by Ramon Ang for mining purposes. Classes will resume this June and the marchers who camped out at the DAR [Department of Agrarian Reform] need assistance in providing bags, notebooks, pens, pencils and other school supplies for 20 high school and 28 elementary students they left behind. Hope we can donate in whatever little way.

Yesterday, they left their camp at DAR and moved to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources office [DENR]. You can drop off your donations there or you may contact Mr. Gari Lazaro at 0920-9506901, he'll be glad to pick up your donations.

Switch to Brown Rice

Brown rice is packed with lots of vitamins and minerals. This super food helps reduce the risk of breast, colon and other cancers. Eating at least 6 servings of brown rice in a week can help lower blood pressure and cholesterol level. This rice is very good for kids too. According to some experts, encouraging them to eat brown rice instead of our usual white rice decreases the risk of type 2 diabetes and childhood asthma.

Who's Hiding In Plain Sight?

Woohoo! Only 3 days to go... my daughter and I can't wait to see USA Network's new original series In Plain Sight which premieres on June 1st. It's a very clever crime drama series about Mary Shannon who covers up as a courier but is actually a US Marshal. Her task is to find people who are hiding in plain sight before they get killed by hired criminals. This action-packed suspense series is sure to be a hit.

While we wait for the premiere here's a teaser... let's see if your keen eyes can locate the image hidden in plain sight.

Flower and Citrus Power

When you're feeling gloomy and you're energy is low, experts say that simply being around with flowers can restore your usual pep. The lovely colors of the flowers, especially the yellow ones boost happiness.

The crisp scent of citrus fruits stimulate the brain which results in an increase in serotonin, making you feel more alert. A potted lemon or calamansi plant not only leaves the air purified but the fruits exude fragrance.

Easy Banking

Do you hate going to the bank and waiting on queue especially during Mondays? Sometimes it takes you more than an hour just to get through your banking transactions. Some companies are forced to hire liason officers just to transact business with banks. But now that banking is made easy through the internet, paying your bills and managing your savings and checking account is effortless. You can even check your balance any time of the day. Banking online gives you the ease of going to the bank and waiting on queue to get served especially on busy banking hours.

What's more? Banks have made it even more easier for their clients. Back in 2004, they introduced this technology where you can make check deposits electronically with a scanner and an ordinary PC. How do you do it? Simply pass the check or money order through your scanner and transmit it through your bank electronically. DepositNow can be used with your existing bank account, you don't have to open a new account to use this service. A lot of people may not know about this because when it was first introduced it did not garner too much attention, maybe because scanners back then were a bit pricey. Now, they have developed their own scanner at half the price which also works as a regular scanner.

Thanks to the internet, banking can now be done online. No need to rush to the bank and waste gas, no long queues to line up on. Banking is now hassle-free and for some companies personnel load is now greatly lessened.

Supercharge Your Kids

Your kids spend at least 8 hours in school everyday and they are usually tired when they get home. Getting them to focus on their homework is a tough job. Experts advice to give them meals/snacks that will give them a boost. Here are the yummy bites they suggest that will help our kids optimize everyday mental function.

Give them BEEF for brainpower. The red meat is packed with vitamin B12 which can help boost attentiveness, concentration and memory scores.

Before Starting on their homework, give your kids a MILK CHOCOLATE. Munching on this yummy snack can heighten alertness within 15 minutes. The milk chocolate is rich in compounds that boost blood flow to the frontal lobes of the brain by 50%.

A bowl of OATMEAL at breakfast can supercharge their concentration by 20%. The antioxidants in oatmeal protect braincells from toxins, keeping them more focused.

LEMONADE sharpens their memory. Studies show that students who sipped this beverage before studying a list of words remembered 50% than kids who skipped the drink. The vitamin C slashes the level of stress hormone. It prevents stunting the cell activity in the brain's memory center leading to faster recall. Make sure to fill their thermos with lemonade especially during exam days.

Here in the Philippines, school will start next month, so pinay mommies I encourage you to take a note on this list so you won't have problems with your kids when it's time to do their homeworks.

This photo is a memorable one. It was taken in the summer of 2005 during the time that Joey, my son, was recuperating from his 2nd and 3rd degree burns. An oven accident burned my little boy together with his grandma. It was an ordeal we had to suffer for 4 weeks. The wounds have healed however, there are some scars on his face but they're barely noticeable. This is the first time that he allowed his papa to have his photo taken after the accident.

The BlogBlast For Peace Meme ~ Join The Revolution

Adam of Fly And Be Free tagged me on this and I'd like to thank him for having tagged me this one is very interesting.

Mimi, the QUEEN of meme's, the creator of The Peace Globes, the author of BlogBlast for Peace has come up with a brilliant idea. She is treating her Peace Globes as a meme to spread this wonderful event. I'm going to jump on board and I challenge you to copy and paste this meme on your site and tag absolutely everyone in the blogosphere. Here's what Mimi has to say:

Peace Globes did not begin as a meme. But it began to behave like a meme. Blog to blog to blog. Like a fog. We didn't use the word "tag" ....but that's what we did when we invited others in our blogrolls to participate. The fact that you did so without the obligatory tag is proof that the concept is powerful.

It's a fact that the fastest and most effective way to spiral an idea out of control in the blogosphere is via a meme. I should know! The 700+ bloggers who participated in past launches (and that truly is the tip of The-Iceberg-I-Never-Found) knows what it means to them. It's about unity. We have that in spades. It's about activism, awareness, crossing political lines, making a statement and sharing ideas. We've done that. We have the vision as a core group of bloggers for peace; but we do not - yet - have the power in numbers behind the message.

BlogBlast For Peace Meme ~ Join The Revolution

Here are the rules and the story. Copy this into a post and tag as many people as you'd like.

The Peace Globe project began in the fall of 2006 with a simple post from one blog, Mimi Writes. The post ignited a flame in the blogosphere. The flame became a passion. The passion became a movement. It amazingly traveled from blog to blog to blog across the globe. Bloggers wrote passionate articles on what peace means to them, along with the promise of three Latin words scribbled on a globe - Dona Nobis Pacem (Grant Us Peace) - branded with the integrity of their names or blog names. It was positively inspiring to watch. And it began to happen all over the world - from Singapore to China to Afghanistan to Brooklyn.

It was simple. And powerful.

In less than two weeks bloggers from all
across the globe will blog for peace.
We will speak with one voice. One subject. One day.
Won't you join us?

The Best Online Shopping

If you are so fond of shopping online, I suggest you check shopping.com. You can find, compare and buy anything with just a click of your mouse. It's a one stop shop that offers a wide range of products. Whether you are looking to buy furnitures, jewelries, lingerie, baby products, health and beauty products, electronics, computers, gardening needs, clothing and shoes, you're sure to find them here. Their prices are very competitive too. You can also find reviews of the products you want to buy, so you will know if it's really worth buying. Check out their selection now.

The Urge to Eat More

When you're on a diet, the temptation to eat more is very high, when you're using bigger dinner plates. The bigger the plate and serving utensils, the more you'll dish out. To win over your urge to eat more, use a smaller plate, a salad plate for example. A Smaller spoon or a fork is a good idea too. With beverages, use a tall glass. Studies show that people pour 28% more into short wide glasses than into tall skinny ones.

Free MP3 Ringtones

Are you one of those who jerk every time you hear a mobile phone ring only to find out that it's not your phone? Those ringtones that usually comes with your mobile phones are usually boring. And since they come with the phone, your ringtone is just the same with every body else. Having a unique ringtone makes you stand out among everybody else. Spice up your mobile phone with free MP3 ringtones. Unlike the boring polyphonic ringtones that do not include voices, MP3s are actual music. They are compressed versions of the original recordings. If your mobile phone can play real music, you can replace your polyphonic caller ringtones and Get Free Music From MPFree.com. Don't be fooled by some sites who will charge you a dollar for each download. Here, you can download as much as you want by simply joining and completing offers. You'll even get an update on the latest music news and new releases. Over 750,000 songs to choose from. Be different, your new ringtone is just a click away.

Cinnamon, Peppercorn & Orange Peel

I’ve heard that cinnamon is good for diabetes. Sprinkling a teaspoon of cinnamon on your food everyday, like oatmeal is not only yummy but it can help lower your blood sugar level. You may also steep cinnamon sticks in hot water for a soothing tea. Peppercorn, when made into soup is good for warming the body, weight loss and to expel phlegm. Orange peel tea is said to cure bad breath, the common flu, arteriosclerosis, hypertension, and to help improve the skin and relieve constipation.

Black Friday Shopping

It was only last year that I came upon Black Friday, I did not have the slightest idea what it was when my sister and cousin who are based in the US told me about it. I thought it was just one of their holidays. They told to me that black friday is the day after Thanksgiving where it marks the beginning of the traditional Christmas shopping season. It is not an official holiday but some employers give the day off to increase the number of potential shoppers. People take time to shop on this day.

Both of them did their Christmas shopping at the black friday web site and took advantage of the discounts, coupons and free stuffs they offer. I checked out the website and saw that they have a lot to offer like clothes, shoes, toys, gadgets, appliances, cosmetics and jewelries to name a few. They asked the kids to choose what they want for Christmas from their long list of available items and bought the items there. The items they have there are a lot cheaper compared to the ones in the department store. Having very little time for shopping because of their busy schedule, they saved a lot of time and money shopping online.

Beautifully Browned Meat

Here's a great tip on how to achieve a beautifully browned meat when you're cooking steak. Blot excess moisture from the meat by patting it dry with a clean cloth or paper towel before cooking. When you sear wet meat, it lowers the temperature of the hot pot and prevents it from caramelizing. When you pat it dry, you'll get that yummy-looking crispy golden brown on the outside and juicy in the inside steak.

A Gift for Your Daddy

Show your daddy how much you love him. Fathers' Day is just a few weeks away and I'm sure you've been thinking of what to give him on that special day. Don't you think he deserves an HDTV for a gift? I know it's expensive and you might not have the money to buy him one. But I didn't say you have to buy.

Charter presents Father's Day in HD! This is your chance to let him know he is the greatest dad. If your father lives in a charter serviceable area you can enter the contest and get a chance to win the nation's biggest HDTV with the best charter HD service and the charter bundle FREE for one year. Isn't that fantastic? I am so sure your dad will be delighted with this.

Joining is easy. To enter the contest you must submit a 250 words essay about your dad and why you think he is the greatest and why he deserves a giant HDTV. Submitting a photo is optional but it will definitely be a plus. You have to remember, though, that the photo should support your essay. It's that simple. One lucky dad will receive a 65" LCD HDTV Flat Panel 1080p and the Charter Bundle plus HD.

Entries should be in by Friday, June 06, 2008 and the winners will be announced on Fathers' Day.

Make it Unique

Why is branding important to your business? Branding is intended to identify the goods and services of sellers to differentiate them from other sellers. This is about getting your customers to see you not only as unique but the only one that provides a solution to their problems. Branding has become an important component of our culture and economy. A brand is a collection of images and ideas representing YOU and your product. It usually includes logos, symbols, fonts, color schemes and sounds identifying it as your very own.
When you have a good brand it means you have credibility, you are able to connect with your target prospects emotionally, you are able to motivate the buyers and you establish loyalty with your buyers. For you to be able to succeed in branding, you must understand the needs and wants of your target market. The simple way of doing it is to integrate your brand strategies through your company at every point of public contact. Your brand should remain in the hearts and minds of your buyers. It is the overall sum of how they see you, your products and their experiences using them.
In building a brand, you must take time to invest and research on how to make a good impression to your market. It is a source of a promise to your consumers, therefore, you owe it to them to deliver a good brand.

Are You an Impulse Shopper?

Sometimes, when we need to buy just a few items from the grocery we end up buying more. Even a quick trip to the supermarket to stock up on toothpaste and milk often include a detour down the aisle just to browse and see what's new. Those items we often see "on sale" with such incredibly cheap prices are so tempting and it means it's fairly fine to snag them even if we don't really need them.

To avoid buying those "extras" it will be wiser to make a list of the things you only need before you do any shopping expedition. Estimate a reasonable total of the things you're going to buy and bring just that amount when you go. Leave your credit cards at home if possible. Your first line of defense to save more is to eliminate all the tools that will allow you to overspend. It may be difficult but you should train yourself to think really hard about any off the list purchases. Ask yourself if you really need it. Even if the answer is "yes" don't put it in your shopping cart yet. Get the things on your list first. This simple act can help you resist the temptation of buying on impulse. At times like this, we, mommies should learn to manage our finances well.

The Pleasure of Driving a Cadillac

A Cadillac has the dynamics of a good luxury car, the all weather capability of their SUVs and the space and functionality of a minivan. According to some reviews, its sharp handling, quick acceleration and high-performance braking make for a sporty, luxurious, enjoyable experience with a smooth, extremely quiet ride.

A used Cadillac should not put you down, it may be two generations old but you have to put into mind that a Cadillac badge always means world-class performance. Used Cadillacs Harrisburg PA still offer impeccable road manners and warm, spacious interiors. These old models still offer crisp handling and good grip for improved composure and driving enjoyment on the roads.

Why not Silk?

My son has hay fever and every morning when he wakes up he sneezes, has runny nose and itchy eyes. Sometimes, it's not only upon waking up. When he is out of the house he will just start sneezing when he smells or inhales something. They say hay fever is caused by pollens of some plants, dust particles and air chemicals. So I always make sure that all my plants are outside the house.

Plants and flowers really make a home attractive but because of my son's hay fever, I can't even put fresh flowers in the living room and my altar. I was never fond of artificial or plastic plants and flowers as they only accumulate more dust. It was only when my friend introduced me to silk plants. Hmmm... why not? Faux plants and trees do not attract insects and do not have pollen particles. Plus, I don't need to water them and spray some pesticides. [My mom's friend died of cancer due pesticides. ] Silk plants remain in shape and retain their colors for a long, long time. They're very low maintenance plus the fact that I am helping the government save our environment. No trees are cut.

Enough said, I'm gonna check Artificialplantsandtrees.com now and shop for some silk plants.

Zapped Energy

If you've got tons of things to do and it seems that you're energy have been zapped here's what you should do. Sit upright in a chair. Use your thumbs to press the outside of your upper chest, just below your armpit and under your first rib. Maintain pressure for one minute. When you have activated the pressure point, anxious energy will flow outward from the area providing you with a burst of power that can help you get through all the tasks until night time. I've tried it many times and it really works.

The Best Brands

I have been blogging for about seven months, and I have to admit I would have not lasted this long if I didn't have fun doing it. Through this blog, I was able to write things about me, my interests and even shared some of my thoughts and ideas. The past seven months were very rewarding. I gained lots of friends and even had monetary rewards through writing paid ads.

I have written ads about web sites, movies, jewelries, furnitures and some popular brand names like Hugo Boss, Nokia, and Bvlgari. But it would be more fun for pro bloggers like me to see more popular brands advertising on our web sites. Brands like Nike, Rolex, Adidas, Gucci, Sony, Tommy Hilfiger, Apple, Dell, HP, Louis Vuitton, and Guess. I am a foodie and I would also like to see some food products advertised here.

SocialSpark.com is so brilliant to encourage their bloggers to write about what kind of advertisers they would like to see on their blogs. They are also opening new venues for these companies to reach out and expand their captive markets. Social Spark has indeed come up with a great idea of bringing advertisers and bloggers in creating a huge marketing network.

If you are an Ass : A very loyal and sweet person. Your loyalty can never be doubted. You are quite honest and sincere when it comes to your attitude towards working. You are a very simple person, indeed. Absolutely hassle free, humble, and down-to-earth!! That explains the reason why your friends cling on to you! You have a good taste for clothes. If your wardrobe is not updated with what is trendy, you sure are depressed. Popular and easy-going. You have a little gr! oup of dignified friends, all of them being quality-personified.

If you are a Slug : Always up to some sort of a mischief! The mischievous gleam in your eyes is what mak e s you so cute and attractive to everyone. You are an extremely fun-to-be-with kind of person. No wonder people seek your company and look forward to include you for all get-together's. However, you are sensitive which is a drawback. People need to select their words while talking to you. If someone tries to fiddle around and play with words while dealing with you, it is enough to invite your wrath. God bless the person then!

If you are a Cockroach : Quite contradictory to your name, you are a peace loving person. You best try to avoid a situation wherein you are required to fight. An outdoor person, you dislike sitting at one place for a long duration. You are a born leader, and have it in you how to tactfull! y deriv e work from people. You love being loved and when you receive your share of limelight from s omeone, you are all theirs!!!! Well, well... Hence some people could even take an advantage, flatter you to the maximum and get their work done. So be careful.....

If you are a Parasite : An extremely lovable, adorable person, sometimes shy, with a passion for quick wit. At times, you prefer quietness. You love exploring various things and going into depth of each thing. Under normal circumstances you're cool but when given a reason to, you are like a volcano waiting to erupt. You're a fashion bird. People look forward to you as an icon associated with fashion. Basically, you mingle along freely but don't like talking much to strangers. People feel very easy in your company. You observe care in choosing your friends.

If you are a Skunk : You are near to perfect and nice at heart! . The e xamples of your kindness are always circulated in groups of people. You, too, love peace. You wouldn't like to retaliate even to a person who is in the wrong. You are loved due to this. You do not wish to talk behind one's back. People love the way you always treat them. You can give, give, and give love, and the best part is that you do not expect it back in return. You are generous enough. Seeing things in a practical light is what remains the best trait of you guys.

If you are a Bullfrog : You symbolize a very happy-go-lucky approach in life. Whatever the surroundings may be, grim or cheerful, you remain unaffected. In fact, you spread cheer wherever you go. You are the leader of your group of fri ends! and go od at consoling pe ople in their times of need. You dislike hypocrisy and tend to shirk away from hypocrites. They can never be in your good books, no matter what. You are very methodical and organized in your work. No amount of mess, hence, can ever encompass you. Beware, it is easy for you to fall in love....

If you are a Snake : You are mysterious. You are someone who can handle pressure with ease, and can handle any atmosphere without going berserk. You can be mean at times, and love to gossip with your selected group. Very prim and proper. You like all situations and things to be in the w! ay you desire, which, sometimes is not possible. As a result, you may lose out in some relationships. But otherwise, you love to help people out from difficult and tight spots when they really need you.

If you are an Ape : Very impatient and hyper!!! You want things to be done as quick as possible. At heart, you are quite simple and love if you are the center of attraction. That way, you people are unique. You would like to keep yourself safe from all the angles. Shall your name be dragged or featured in any sort of a controversy, you then go all panicky. Therefore, you take your precautions from the very beginning. When you foresee anything wrong, your sixth sense is what saves you from falling in traps. Quite a money minde bunch you people are.

Paris Break

Mom and dad are planning on a trip to France next month. They have been to most parts of Europe but it's Paris that captured their hearts. It's their 42nd wedding anniversary and they thought of coming back to France. I was asked by my dad to look for some places where they could stay on their month-long trip. So off I went to my PC and surfed the net.

I've never been to France yet but I have to admit I fell in love with it too when I took the virtual tour. I used to think that vacationing in Paris would cost a fortune but after checking some hotels, I found out that I was wrong. The Paris Hotels, Venice Hotels, Hotels Rome and Amsterdam Hotels offer cheap accommodations with excellent service. Imagine paying less and still live like a king. I am so sure mom and dad won't only have a great time exploring Paris and its main attractions like Arc De Triomphe, Eiffel Tower, Le Louvre, Notre Dame De Paris and Versailles. They'll have a great time shopping too and check out Galeries Lafayette and Printemps. Just think of the Euros they can save from their hotel bills.

Lemonade for Puffy Face

Most women develop facial puffiness after consuming foods rich in carbs. Large amounts of carbs can make the face bloated with lymph fluids. You will notice this especially during holidays or after a party when you have eaten too much carbs. To deflate puffiness, lemonade does the trick. Freshly squeeze 2 tablespoons of lemon or lime juice, mix with 1 tablespoon of maple syrup or honey. 1/10 teaspoon of cayenne pepper and 8 oz of water. Sip a glass before having breakfast and lunch. The refreshing beverage is rich in d-limonene, potassium and d-glucarate. These minerals are proven to reduce lymphatic inflammation within 2 hours.

Rugged and Classy

Whenever I buy pants for my hubby, he always requests me to buy him Dockers. Those pants are so durable, they last for years. His famous line for Dockers, " rugged yet classy". If you love Dockers too and have an interesting story to tell, it's your time to shine now. Your favorite pants is holding a contest!

How would you like to see your very own commercial at Tonight Show on NBC? If you're a legal resident of US, 18 years or older, you are eligible to enter the Dockers contest. Just create your own 30-second video telling your own Dockers story. The video has to be your own style, creative, modern, and as my husband says, rugged and classy. You must also highlight the Dockers brand. The contest started April 29 and will end on June 06, 2008. But please note that submission of entries will only be until May 29. There will be only one grand prize winner and the winning entry will be aired on Jay Leno's show on its June 13, 2008 broadcast.

Start visualizing your dockers video now and check on the link for more information.

The Sage

Salvia officinalis commonly known as sage is a small shrub with woody stems. The leaves are grayish and the flowers are somewhat blue or purple in color. I've always loved the aroma of sage whenever I use it for roasting chicken. I never knew that it could be medicinal too. It was recently discovered that sage can kill 65 types of germs. The herb's rosmarinic acid is a potent antioxidant that acts as a natural antibiotic. It can soothe the pain and inflammation brought about by sore throats within 24 hours. The formula is so simple. Just simmer 2 tablespoons of dried sage in 8 oz water for 10 minutes, stir in 1/4 teaspoon of salt and let cool. The salt will help ease the swelling. Gargle with the solution for 30 seconds 3 times daily at the sign of infection. Before I have read about this, my mom used to make just the water and salt solution. Now, I've learned that this works even better with sage. I am so glad I bought the plant a few months ago.

Why Do You Need to Save Money?

Saving is the excess of income over consumption expenditures. To put it simply, you deposit your money in the bank or sometimes as bonds, wherein you earn money for interest. I remember my mother telling me how they saved money when she was younger. They dropped their money in a wide bamboo stick, or sometimes in old bottles, quite similar to what we have now as piggy banks. It really doesn’t matter how they saved their money then, what’s important was they saved money for future use.
Nowadays, only a few people use piggy banks, we save our money in the bank. We save our extra money for our future goals and if in case something happens, you have an emergency fund to use. And because the internet is very accessible to anyone, did you know that you can open and manage your account online? Savings Account maintained online gives you the ease of going to the bank and waiting on queue to get served especially on busy banking hours. Plus, the convenience of being able to access your account anytime of the day. You don’t have to wait for the next banking day to inquire about your account, they have a 24/7 customer service to help you with your every needs.
If you think you need to save for your future, sign up for an account now and experience the convenience of banking online.

Tebinfea gave me this token and I would love to share this with all of you. Thank you so much guys for always visiting me and your kind comments. :)

Google Update

Google has been very generous to bloggers lately. Yesterday they had an update. Bloggers either got their slapped PRs back or their PR got higher. In my case, google has been good to me for the last 2 updates. On their March update, I got my PR back. After taking away my PR4, they gave me PR2. Then yesterday, it went up to 3.

To all those who got theirs back, to those who got an increase in their PRs, and to those who just got a PR, CONGRATULATIONS! To those who didn't, don't despair.... you'll get yours. :)
