Keeping your hairbrush clean

One of the keys in keeping your hair healthy is using a clean hairbrush all the time. You wash and shampoo your hair everyday so why not clean your hairbrush every so often? I don't see the point of washing your hair daily if you're going to use a dirty, fuzz filled brush to style it. Everyday use will leave natural oil buildup or gunk built up from hairstyling products. Not cleaning it regularly means the dirt and oil buildup will be transferred to your hair, I'm sure you wouldn't want that.

The first thing you do in cleaning is to remove the hairs from your hairbrush. You can actually use your fingers to pick up excess hair but if it proves to be difficult, try using another brush or a toothpick. Then clean it with warm water and a mild soap. An old toothbrush may come in handy to gently remove oil residue and excess dirt. For further sanitation, you can soak it in this solution for 10 minutes: one part vinegar to four parts water. Give it a good rinse after soaking with warm or lukewarm water (you wouldn't want your hair smelling of vinegar). Then hang it up to dry or just lay it out on the table.

Prevent it from getting a lot of shampoo and styling product buildup to keep it clean. Wash it at least every two days and regularly pick out excess hair. Take extra time to care for it, your hair will thank you for that. It will not only keep your hair healthy but you can also keep your hairbrush longer. We spend a lot of time caring for our hair, some of us even spend so much for it. Investing on a good one and taking care of it only makes sense. By the way, it's recommended to replace hairbrush at least once a year to maintain the health of your hair and scalp.

Max, this post is for you. :D
