Well, you are not alone. A lot of women who are under stress or facing a problem turn to food to feel better. According to experts, consuming carbs during times of stress increases levels of stress-reducing chemical serotonin.
But you don't have to deny yourself of these food indulgences because it will help regulate stress hormones. Instead of munching carbs, go for whole-grains and remember to eat slowly. Whole-grains will also make you feel better, plus, you won't pack on pounds because it has fewer calories.

So true! I work two jobs, run my online world and raise 8 kiddos, so you could say I'm a bit stressed. LOL. Realy good info and its great you kept it short and to the point.
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteI love this post!
Ha,ha,ha! Now, I know that I really should eat. Kidding aside, it is very informative.
How I wish whole grains are as tasty and yummy as carbs! haha
ReplyDeleteI guess Im under a lot of stress.

I go back and forth on this. Sometimes when I am stressed I eat like their is no tomorrow and then sometimes I can't eat at all. Chocolate is always on my list as you know!
ReplyDeleteWell said. But then again, solving the problem is easier said than done.
ReplyDeleteWillpower is what is required!
Chocolate is top of my list when I'm stressed, too. To the extent often that I feel revolting after overindulging.
I usually can't stop eating when I'm feeling fed up, which usually when I'm bored or depressed and the weather doesn't usually help I hate the early dark nights. But, I think I'm one of the lucky ones as I don't put on much weight, which is probably due work keeping me on my feet and running around!

Porridge is a great comfort food and won't make you pile on the pounds.
ReplyDeleteSo true. Stress always causes me to eat more than I should and always the kind of food I shouldn't be eating at all.

ReplyDeleteMe too! Eating makes me relax but regret it after. Ouch, I can't do that, I like to eat bad foods especially when I am stress.
ReplyDeleteWe are working more whole grains into our diet. I find a little bit of protein helps to stave off hunger.
