How to avoid Strokes (Part 2)
1. Eat bananas, potatoes and avocados. These fruits are rich in potassium which can help lower blood pressure and avoid blood clots in our brain.
2. Include yogurt in your diet. Yogurt helps increase linoleic acid which is an essential fatty acid to lower the risk of strokes.
3. Consuming at least five servings of spinach every week can help lower the risk of stroke up to 43%.
4. Eat carrots at least five times a week. Carrots are healthy snacks you and your kids can enjoy. It can also lower the risk of stroke by 68%.
5. Find time to floss. Gum disease can boost the risk of stroke and it's best to take time to floss your teeth if you can't immediately brush them after eating.
6. Stop smoking. Smoking increases the risk of stroke especially to women who are taking birth control pills.
The Symptoms:
You know you are having a stroke when you feel numbness on your face, arms or thighs; blurred vision; weakness; and you're feeling uneasy. Stroke occurs when the blood vessel which supplies blood to our brain is clogged. I've read in one article that 80% of stroke cases can and may be avoided by simply following the tips.
