What a Finger Pulse Oximeter Tells You

The small gadget that you see on a patient's finger inside the hospital is called finger pulse oximeter. I've seen this when my father in law underwent a multiple heart bypass surgery. I didn't know what the electronic device was for and it was only recently that I found out. It calculates how much oxygen is carried in a patient's blood. It might just look like a clip but that little thing tells doctors if the blood in the patient's heart and lungs are functioning well to deliver oxygen to different parts of the body.
