Stand Offs are Recommended

If you don't want to get in trouble with your PC later on, I suggest you use stand offs. These are tiny pieces of metals you use as spacers to avoid burning parts that are not supposed to touch one another. Not using stand offs is one reason why your PC doesn't last long especially when there are upgrades.
