Tips to Speed Up Recovery When You're Sick

Nothing's worse than being sick. Your health is your wealth, so if you don't have your health, you have nothing. It can be really discouraging to sit in bed for two weeks recovering from a nasty bug. After all, you have a life to live. If you or someone in your family is sick, there are ways to speed up recovery. Implement these four tips sooner rather than later.

1. Water

Sure, you already know that water is good for you. However, when a person gets sick, there is a breakdown in the body's ability to ward off sickness. As a result, you're stuck in bed. Drink lots of water to stay hydrated because this is essential for allowing the bodily organs to function well. Additionally, hydration is also essential because there are toxins in the body that supported an environment of sickness. It's best to flush those toxins out. Water is the best fluid to consume in order to cleanse the body. If you don't like the taste, add some fresh lemon juice to the mix. Lemons are also very cleansing and detoxifying.

2. Rest

For many people, the mix of junk food and a lack of sleep will lead to two weeks in bed with a cold. Too often, people believe they are invincible and don't need that much rest. Your body requires rest or it will forcefully breakdown so it can receive it. When you're sick, this is not the time to try and do work. Sleep as much as possible. In fact, don't be afraid to sleep and take naps around the clock. Your body is crying out for it. There are people who get sick and stay sick for months because they haven't taken the time to sleep and nurse themselves back to health. If you get the rest you need immediately, you'll have a better chance of getting better at a quicker rate.

3. Medicinal Supplements

A part of nursing yourself back to health involves taking medicinal treatments. A nebulizer helps someone with breathing issues. Some Vitamin C tablets will help to boost the immune system. Cough syrup or cold & flu tablets work well to push the cold through the system and manage the symptoms. If you have a fever and some seemingly relentless cold symptoms, go to the doctor. After that, shop for ease a cold products online to get through the initial hump.

4. Dairy-Free Foods

Dairy has a way of causing congestion. Stay away from anything with milk, yogurt, cheese or butter. It might seem like you're missing out on all the good foods, but you're not. Instead, eat lots of chicken noodle soup, crackers and fruit. Before long, you'll be able to enjoy your ice cream sandwiches and milk-drenched cereals again.
