my MIL used to have them in her garden ... I believe they are called golden shrimp plant (Pachystachys lutea).

I believe that it's called shrimp plant - for obvious reasons - and is a Pachystachys species. Thanks for stopping by my site.

About the shrimp comment - it sounds perfectly right. I've never seen them before but the colour is beautiful.
