Wake up Gorgeous

All those late-night partying are showing on your face. I'm sure,  so here's another one for puffy eyes.  Mix 1/2 teaspoon of almond oil and 1 tablespoon of yogurt in a small resealable jar.  At bedtime each night, dab a bit of the cool balm around your eyes.  The almond oil is packed with skin-nurturing vitamin D and E and is an anti-inflammatory.  And yogurt's lactic acid helps rev cell renewal to brighten discoloration in the under-eye area while you sleep.  :)

Oh, we have gps tracking.

It's been 9 years since my brother visited from the States.  He was surprised to see how much Manila have changed.  A lot of roads and fly-overs have been added.  He only knew about the Magallanes and  the Edsa-Ortigas interchanges, now there are more scattered around the city, you'll get lost if you're not so familiar with the roads.  The funny thing is, he was asking for road maps when he borrowed the car.  Even the kids we're laughing at him saying, road maps are a thing of the past.  Well brother,  we are not so "behind" here, just like in the US, we also have gps tracking and most cars are already equipped with this small gadget.  :)

Decorative Indoor Planters

Having a small home and limited space doesn't mean you can't have plants and flowers.  That's what my friend, Irene, who's into Decorative Planters business, often tells me.  She never stopped until I agreed for her to decorate my home with indoor planters.  Well, it turned out beautiful and her pretty blooms brightened the house.  I give so much credit to her creativity and her green thumb.

Now she's itching to decorate the outside.  She wants to add window box planters because she says, my windows are boring.  That girl!  She knows so well that I love plants and I love having flowers around but window box planters are not in my budget and I can't afford to have them at this time.  So the planters will have to wait until summer sweetie.  :)

Puffiness?

Ease it with olive oil.  The Italian staple is the only source of the antioxidant oleocanthal, an inflammation fighting compound that relieves internal swelling.  To do:  Apply and gently massage around the eyes.

Not From Him

It's not very often that I get flowers.  When I asked him why, he said, he wants to treat me differently from his past girlfriends.  So on the few occasions that I received long stemmed roses, those were from my kids.  Though he knows that I love flowers, I have accepted the fact that I'd never get anything from him.

SEO Dallas is her secret.

My cousin has a business in Dallas. Her target market is the Dallas area.  Having a website, she would like to raise awareness on the products and services her company offers. To improve traffic, she enlisted the help of the SEO Dallas. So far, traffic has been steadily increasing and she has already have several clients. Aside from this, she also has local advertising in the print media. Both mediums are a big boost in awareness. The internet's popularity is bringing in most of the customers. She is now contemplating of widening her operations because of this. Expansion came very early for her company and that is very good for business.

GPS Tracking Got Them

My friend owns a trucking business. Lately, he had noticed a rise in fuel consumption and cost. He investigated the matter and found out that some of his drivers have been using company vehicles for their personal errands. He wanted to have definite proof so he had all his vehicles installed with GPS tracking so he can monitor all the vehicle's locations. In just a matter of days, he was able to single out the drivers who have made unofficial trips. He confronted them and was able to impose the proper company sanctions against them. He was able to arrest the situation before it got worse.

Pamper Your Tootsies

Our feet absorb the shock of thousands of steps each day, which can leave them looking ugly.  A short nightly work out before tumbling into bed will make them looking good in the morning.

Here's what you should do:  Move each foot around in a circular motion from the ankle, first clockwise, then counterclockwise, eight revolutions each.  Then flex up and down and side to side eight times.  Apply a rich serum or cream to your palms (look for products with peppermint, which stimulates circulation), then take each foot in hand, and gently massage.  You'll wake up with pretty, happy feet and ready to take thousands of steps again.

Gifts For EveryOne

Are you running out of gift ideas?  Whether you are looking for a gift for your lady love, your wife, mom or daughters, I found a website that's full of wonderful gift ideas for every one.  I've always found it hard to buy a gift for mom.  She should have been the easiest because she is very easy to please.  Mom would gladly accept whatever kind of gift we, her children, give her.  But I always liked to give her something unique, after all, she really is special.  Something that she'll never expect she will receive.  Every gift that I have given her was well-thought of.

I was beginning to run out of ideas when I stumbled upon a website.  Mom is always so busy doing everything for everyone else (even for her grandkids!), and she deserves a day to herself. And since day spas are all the rage, I'm sure mom would love that.  A massage, manicure, pedicure, massage, haircut and color, and perhaps a facial would definitely make her day.

By the way, the site is full of great ideas, if you're looking for timeless gift ideas -- Christmas, birthdays, mothers day gifts, anniversary, etc --  make a click stop and you'll surely find the perfect gift for every one.

Mom's Perfect Gift

Going back to my last post, when mom heard from my daughter that I have been shopping online for gifts, she asked if I could shop for her too.  She already asked my nephew and niece what they wanted so we can just go directly on the websites and purchase them.  For the new baby though, she would like to give her a bracelet.  Every grandchild in our family got a bracelet from my parents as their first gifts.  Mai's and Joey's are kept in my jewelry box, I'm sure they would love to pass them on to their children as well, so I am taking good care of the precious jewels for them.

I found her a cute bracelet from a children's jewellery website, a good friend recommended.  It is has a pink fairy charm and I believe  it was hand painted and the slippers are in 9ct gold.   Mom didn't have second thoughts about the bracelet when she laid eyes on it.  Perfect, was the only word I heard.  Nicole (that's going to be her name, according to my brother), might not appreciate the true value and beauty of it, but I know she will treasure it when the time comes.

It's Anytime Now.

It has been a long time since we had a baby in the family.  Joey, my son, is the youngest among all the grandchildren so you can just imagine the joy in every one's face when my brother announced months ago that a new baby is coming. And it's a girl!  She is still baking in the oven ;) but is due to come out any time soon.  Mom is requesting my family to prepare all the necessary documents and renew our visas so we can all travel next year (as soon as school closes) to visit the new baby.  Oh, my kids got all excited, of course.  This is going to be their first time in the US and they're going to see their cousins whom they have not seen for years and a new cousin.  Plus, they'll get to stay there all summer long.

Shopping for holiday gifts have always been a fun event in our family but it has become more exciting now that we're also shopping for a baby.  I have been shopping online for gifts -- iPod for my niece, Nadine, car accessories for my nephew, Nigel, who just bought a new car, and baby shoes and clothes for the baby.

We used to wait for a friend or relative to leave for the US before we can send them stuff.  Now I don't need to, the gifts will soon be under their tree, in time for Christmas.  We might not be with them during the holidays but in spirit, we are.  Please be with me in praying for my SIL's quick and safe recovery.  :)

At-Home Spa

No time to visit the spa?  Then turn your own shower into a spa.  :)  Before jumping into the shower, coat your face with your favorite mask or exfoliating treatment.  The shower's heat and steam open and clean out pores while your mask's nutrients seep in.  then splash your face with cold water to increase circulation and create a tight, pore-free appearance.

They're Growing Back

My mom's hair is beginning to thin.  Although she says that's perfectly alright (she turned sixty last April), I still want her to age beautifully.  I gave her an aloe vera plant, which she applies on her scalp everyday before bathing then she uses the shampoo for hair loss to help grow the hair back.  I think it's helping her because I can now see some baby hair growing.  For those of you who's been having problems with hair loss, I'd say try both tricks cause they really work.  :)

Rose's Gift

Tis the season for gifts and bonuses.  Did you get your bonus already?  Rose, my store helper has been with me for 9 months.  She's a hard-worker and can be trusted with money.  She's a rare find nowadays.  I already gave her 13th month pay bonus and she's quite happy about it.  Hubs and I also purchased an affordable health insurance for her as an additional gift. It's not often that I give additional gifts because unlike the past years, the store is not doing very well.  But as I've said, Rose is a hard-worker and I appreciate her loyalty. She deserves this extra gift.

Beautiful and Shiny

What you don't need is a bad hair day especially when you're running late in the morning.  to wake up with gorgeous locks, try coconut oil.  Simply warm 1 tablespoon of coconut oil in your hands then massage into your towel-dried hair and scalp and distribute evenly with a wide-toothed comb.  Wrap your pillow with a soft fluffy towel or wear a microfiber hair turban to avoid greasing up the linens, then hit the hay.  In the morning, rinse well.

They say the oil is great for hair because it is 50 percent lauric acid, a unique fatty acid that absorbs quickly for extreme hydration.  Lauric acid is also an antimicrobial and antifungal agent that promotes scalp health, reduces dandruff and stimulates hair growth.  Plus, coconut oil is a miracle cure for frazzled locks.

Old Ties

My dad bought a new pickup truck for our deliveries a few months ago and it came with a free insurance.  He had a dent on his bumper when another truck accidentally bumped him last month.  He was disappointed with the insurance company because his claims took more than a month.  He's been complaining a lot so I thought I'd look for number of the old, reliable insurance company we had back then.  Unfortunately they have changed the numbers and moved their office.  I tried the web -- Wholesaleinsurance.net -- and I'm glad they were on the list.  I gave the contact numbers to dad and he called then right away. Dad loves the service they’ve extended to him and for him, nothing can beat that.  Not even a free insurance.

Spread Your Word through SEO Dallas

Need your business to be more visible on the net?  Then let SEO Dallas do the job of spreading your keywords on the internet.  It's actually the easiest way to advertise -- search engine optimization experts are the one’s who will sell your service or product. How?  By putting you -- your product -- on top of all the search engines on the web.  So whenever someone searches for something in the net and types your keywords, they'll see you right away.  Come to think of  it, who would waste time searching for a product from thousands of or probably more websites?  I won't!

It's great there's gps tracking.

My mom is a bit worried about my uncle who went to the US.  He is staying with my brother and his family but knowing how busy they are, she's afraid he might get lost somewhere if he drives or goes out on his own.  "Oh, mom," my brother said, "he is old enough and the car has gps tracking so he'll never get lost."  It's nice that we now have this gadget.  It's easier to go anywhere without having to worry on directions and it's also easy to find you should you get lost.  Mom gave a sigh of relief after hearing about gps and that my uncle is enjoying his vacation.

WW - Arriving Very Soon

Wordless Wednesday

Can't wait!  My new niece is due to arrive on the 16th.  :)

The Dream Vacation

Oh, no winner again last night!  The pot has ballooned to 586 million, the biggest ever in the history of Philippine Lotto.  Hubs and I have been talking, what would we do if we win the jackpot.   Easy I say, 50 percent of the pot will be kept in the bank and just enjoy the monthly interest.  The other half will be shared with family, charity and will be spent on housing.  We'd buy a flat for my eldest and a car for the youngest.

Of course, we'll go on vacation.  One of the places hubs and I would visit is the Caribbean.  It's always been our dream all inclusive vacation.   We planned to go there  for our honeymoon when we got married, but instead we went to Tokyo.  My parents gifted us with a free trip to Tokyo.  We have planned, several times, on going but luck wasn't on our side, so the all inclusive vacations never happened.

If we win the lottery we'll go right away!  Haha.  Of course, I'm not banking on it.  Win or loose, hubs and I will be spending one summer on one of those all inclusive resorts in the Caribbean, and hopefully, it's next summer.  :)

RT|WW - Nasty Little Fella

Lazy!

Mai's skin is starting to break out again.  I've been nagging her (every night!) to treat it with the acne solution I bought her but she is so lazy.  She claims she is too tired when she comes home from her OJT and she just wants to wash up and sleep.  Well, her acne will not go away if that's her attitude.  I hope she won't wait until it's all over her face before she finally does something about it.  Haay, kids!

Learning Something New

Rose, my store helper, is asking if I would allow her to participate in the educational program our baranggay is offering.  It's a 3-month health care seminar open to all the residents for free.  All they have to pay for are the uniforms and equipment.  I said, "Why not?"  health care careers are very much in demand all over the world.  I wouldn't want her to be a sales girl forever.  Sooner or later she'll start a family of her own and should she decide to live abroad, she has a special skill and can easily apply for a job.

Get Lustrous Hair With Eggs

An egg does more than make you feel strong and healthy.  It does more than give you clear eyesight and sharp mind.  The breakfast staple beautifies hair.  The yolks contain biotin, an essential B vitamin shown to help metabolize fats and carbs into keratin, a protein that builds healthy shiny hair.  Plus, it can help prevent hair fall and breakage.

Use it as a conditioning agent. Beat an egg as you do with a scrambled egg. Massage onto hair and scalp. Let sit on hair for 15 minutes. Then rinse with lukewarm water and shampoo as usual. Do this once a week and you'll never have to visit the salon for hot oil again.

Holiday Stress

Now that the holiday season is here, stress is a very unwelcome guest.  Between food preparation, shopping, gift wrapping, and taking care of your kids, good luck if you could squeeze even a little time to relax.  Your long list of to-do can take a serious toll on your skin, so if you want to look good this holiday season, try to eliminate tasks as much as you can.

The iPhone App Store Link hubs found for the kids took out a lot of stress from me.  While I'm busy working, the kids are busy with their new iPhone applications.  Hubs read the Press Release from the paper the other day and immediately told the kids about it.  Well, actually it was the 3 of them who are enjoying the new apps, haha. It's like having 3 kids here at home, so you ca just imagine the mess when they're all here.  :(

Holiday stress can practically snuff out holiday merriment, so don't ever let it win.

The Season For Sniffles

'Tis the season for the sniffles.  If you think you are safe from cold and flu season this year because you ate your immune-boosting sweet potatoes and got plenty of sleep, then you're wrong.  There are more than 200 viruses that cause colds and you are not safe from them no matter how healthy your habits.  The chances are big that the sniffles and sneezes will catch you.  Your defense?  The best multivitamin.  It may not totally defend you from catching the colds but it will strengthen your immune system and lessen the severity of the cold.

I need a kicker.

This is getting frustrating.  I am eating less and has increased my workout to an hour a day.  For two months I have been doing this but all I managed to shed off are 2 pounds.  Seriously, I am considering weight loss diet pills.  I have already checked several and I'm planning to start next month.  I'm not really into fast weight loss, what I want is a little kick to jump start it.

Problem Skin

Acne worsens during times of stress and sleep deprivation.  Notice how your skin breaks out whenever you are under an emotional turmoil?  It can do a number on your emotional well-being.  Some get depressed and anxious which only exacerbates the condition.  I found some helpful solutions at www.homeremediesacne.net.  If you think your acne cream is not helping your skin get better, the home remedies might just work.

Vanish Redness

Now that it's starting to get colder, the redness on your skin will be back soon.  A beautifying soak is what you need to vanish redness.  This one will surely leave you blooming.  Here's what you should do:  In a food processor, combine 1 cup rolled oats, 1/2 cup baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon and 1 tablespoon vanilla extract until the mixture reaches the consistency of flour.  Sprinkle it into a warm bath, then get in and enjoy the water, the oats are packed with vitamin E, amino acids and silica that alleviate irritation, while cinnamon functions .  Wondering why as an antioxidant, antiseptic and antifungal to prevent rashes and infection.  Wonder why vanilla is included?  The sweet scent causes the brain to release serotonin, a brain chemical which boosts mood and suppresses appetite.

How Reading Helps

Take ten minutes a day to peruse books or magazines, and you'll fortify your defenses against colds within a week.  Well, I was surprised to hear about that, too.  But according to experts, reading stories or articles about other people stimulates the release of oxytocin, a bonding hormone that also counteracts the body's stress responses.  This hormonal shift can up the body's output of infection-fighting white blood cells by 20 percent.  So you see hubs, that's one more reason why I should get more Amazon books and magazines, LOL.  Shall we go shopping now?  :)

Christmas Is In The Air

Oh, Christmas is really around the corner.  But how come I don't feel it?  Lol, maybe it's just me.  The malls are decorated for the coming holidays and I've seen some people around selling artificial christmas trees.

I think I'll get one of those for the store.  It's mini, it's cute and already decorated with colorful lights and some ornaments. I can add a few more or leave it just like that.  I should start decorating now to feel the spirit.  How about you, have you put up a tree yet?

Don't Leave Home w/o It

Coconut oils is not called versatile for nothing.  It's packed with fatty acids and is hailed for its antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and hydrating properties.  Put some oil in a small bottle or a few spoonfuls if it's in solid form in a resealable container and put it in your purse.  This carry-on multitasker will have you feeling beautiful wherever you are.

10 ways to use it:
  1. MOISTURIZER.  Massage into hands, legs, feet and decollete - the oils' moisture-locking lipids will give skin a soft glow.
  2. NAIL STRENGTHENER.  Work into nails to create a hydrating seal that will help prevent brittleness and hangnails.
  3.  LIP BALM.  Dot onto lips to keep them supple.
  4.  FACIAL SCRUB.  To restore radiance, add a packet of sugar to a dollop (or a few drops) of the oil and massage into your face, then rinse.
  5. ANTI-FRIZZ SERUM.  Apply a dab to hair to seal the cuticle and repel frizzies.
  6. DEODORANT.  Thanks to its bacteria-killing lauric acid, smearing on a glob of the oil will nix foot and body odor.
  7. ACNE TREATMENT.  This is actually the first time I heard that it can fight acne.  When dabbed on breakouts, the oil's lauric acid will gently heal acne without dehydrating skin.
  8. ANTI-ITCH CREAM.  Swipe a film over bug bites or rashes, letting the oil's anti-inflammatory agents soothe the skin.
  9. LUBRICANT.  Sure, the oil is perfect for squeaky suitcase wheels, but a smidge also relieves "down there" dryness.
  10. STOMACH SOOTHER.  Add a spoonful or a few drops to hot tea and sip.  The oil's antimicrobial acids will help ward off indigestion-causing bacteria and parasites.

Not So Good

Daily exposure to dirt and dust makes Mai's skin breakout.  I told her to schedule a visit to our Derma friend but she only has one day off a week and she usually wants to sleep and rest on that day.  OJT is draining all her energy.  Her friend recommended epiduo, so she asked if I could buy it for her.  I'm a little conservative when it comes to creams and meds applied on skin, so I asked my friend if epiduo is safe to use.  Well, I'm relieved that I didn't buy it right away.  My friend says she won't recommend it because it has ingredients that can be harsh on skin.  She told Mai to use tea tree or coconut oil instead.

Determined

To my friend Gina, dieting wan as unappealing as hiking up stairs.  She had witnessed enough of her family's weight struggles to know that she didn't want to yo-yo through life.  It was only after her brother had a serious health problem due to obesity that she realized she too,  had to shed off the pounds.  She started walking 30 minutes daily and have already lost a few.  She also checked weight loss pill reviews of some popular brands to aid fat burn.  She also sneaks a little exercise into every activity, like stretching while dusting the house.  Great job Gi!

A Beautifying Scrub

A scrub that's sure to leave you blooming, ever heard of the coffee scrub?    Here's how to do it:  In a medium-size jar, combine 1 cup of ground coffee, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 of sea salt and 1/2 cup of almond oil. In the shower, wet skin and use a circular motion to massage mixture into cellulite-prone areas for at least five minutes.  Your scrub can be stored for up to 4 weeks.

Why it works?  The caffeine in the coffee grounds stimulates blood flow to help flush cellulite-causing toxins  while the coffee grounds target stubborn cellulites.  The brown sugar and sea salt whisk away dulling dead skin cells.  And almond oil's fatty oleic acid seeps deep into the dermis for extra smoothing and hydration.

Pamper Your Lips

Dry lips?  Care for your kisser with this DIY ultra-rich balm I found.  To do:  Mix three teaspoons of petroleum jelly with one teaspoon of homey and a dash of cinnamon.  Keep the mixture in an empty lip balm pot, and apply using smooth, slow strokes so you can feel the sensation of your fingertips across your mouth.  The result?  Smooth and luscious kisser.

The Unbearable Winter Itch

Every winter, my sister's skin turns dry and itchy from head to toe.  She bought lotion for ultra dry skin and religiously applied it throughout the day.  It only helped for a few minutes, and then she's right back to scratching.

Last year was the worst.  It was late at night and she couldn't sleep because of the irritation her skin was causing her.  She drove to the hospital alone, went straight to the emergency room and asked the nurse in cotton scrub to attend to her immediately.  She was already checking her when the doc in white lab coat came and saw the condition of her skin.  She immediately called for the dermatologist on duty so medication can be given right away.  My sister felt better when she took the medicine.  The doc also gave her a special cream she can apply on her skin  whenever it gets super dry.

The cold weather is fast approaching, although she now know what to take and use once her skin starts to get dry, she's keeping her fingers crossed that she doesn't have to see the medical staff in scrub sets again.  Like my mom, she's terrified of hospitals.
