It's Good For The Skin!

One of the most misconceptions about chocolate is that eating too much causes acne. Experts keep saying there is no link to the consumption of this sweet treat and the production of sebum. The truth of the matter is, it has been found to be good for the skin. The mere scent of it stimulates the happy hormone, endorphins, while the chocolate itself has moisturizing properties. In fact, spas are now offering it as body treatments, from chocolate milk baths to chocolate bean scrubs and mus masks. I'm finding more and more reasons to enjoy my favorite treat. :)

Thank You FC!!!

Happy Anniversary!!!

Married for 22 years now, we managed to keep the relationship going against all odds. It has been a little bumpy but a nice journey and our kids have grown so fast, haay, how time flies. Joel and I had a whirlwind romance and most of our friends thought we wouldn't last, but look at us now... still standing strong. We still have a long way to go but we look forward to our life together.

To you my sweetheart... thank you so much for giving me 110% of your love... I love you and Happy Anniversary.

Another Kitchen Cure for Dry Skin

Do you remember my post about Crisco being the ultimate kitchen cure for dry skin? Well, here's another one - safflower oil. It is flavorless, colorless and nutritionally similar to sunflower oil. The oil contains more than three-quarters linoleic acid, a fatty acid that helps skin hold on to water. Dermatologists recommend rubbing the oil into damp skin straight from the bottle. Or you can try lotions containing this oil.

iLasik, The Cheaper Solution

My husband underwent a Lasik eye surgery many years ago. LASIK was just recently introduced in our country then, and he was one of the first people who took the surgery. We immediately decided upon it because of his progressive myopia. For a long time, he wore contact lenses and prescription glasses. His eye refraction then was 1020 (left eye) and 1010 (right eye), without them, he is almost blind. Another factor that made it really difficult for him was, he's allergic to soft lenses. He can only make do with hard lenses, which he had to remove every night. At that time, Lasik surgery was very expensive, but my in-laws helped us with the expenses. The surgery has done wonders to his eyes, it relieved him from all the troubles of having to wear thick specs and contact lenses.

Now, it's my daughter who is myopic, and yes, hubs and I are seriously considering iLASIK (modern lasik) for her. He's been there and he knows how hard it is to be wearing glasses and contact lenses. The surgery is costly and we are still saving for that, but if you will consider the cost of eyeglasses, contact lenses and solutions, you'll be surprised to know that you'll save a lot of money in the long run. You don't believe me? Click on the link and try to calculate your lifetime cost of wearing contacts.

Sunburn Relief

Did you know that burning continues even after you have gotten out of the sun? There is nothing we can do to stop it once it has begun, but there are some things that can help ease the pain for the next few days.

*Take a cold bath. The tub is better because a shower with a strong steam will definitely hurt you. The water shouldn't be too cold or too hot, especially for kids. Fill the tub with water, add half a cup of oatmeal, then soak. A 10-minute soak should provide you some soothing relief, but remember just to soak and not to rub the oatmeal on your skin.

*Apply lotion or gel after soaking. Except for whitening lotion, any lotion will be alright to use, but aloe vera gel is the most recommended. If you think you're better off without lotion, wet towels as compresses are okay too. Do not use anything mentholated, as those can cause you more discomfort.

Here are some of the things you can grab in your pantry for some quick relief:

OATMEAL. It is extremely soothing, as long as it is mixed with bath water and not rubbed or scrubbed on the skin. It is safe for babies too. If you're out of oatmeal, cornstarch and baking soda can work too.

VINEGAR. It is said to have antimicrobial properties but do not apply it on a burn that has already developed into a blister. Try a compress soaked in apple cider vinegar.

CUCUMBER. Known for its cooling and soothing properties, slices of cucumber can help alleviate discomfort from extra hot skin.

GUAVA LEAVES. They have long been used as a cure-all. Boil some water in, drop some guava leaves and let cool. Apply on the sunburned area using a compress.

Thank You ANYA!!!

I'm a Car!

You Are A Car

You're the type of person who likes to do things your way. You're a little stubborn.

You're very expressive and a true individual. You don't like to compromise.

You are a very private person. You value your alone time.

While you may seem self centered to some, you are actually very cooperative when you need to be.

What Type of Transportation Are You?

How about you? Try to take the quiz to find out what type of transportation are you. I had fun answering the questions, I'm sure you'll enjoy it too. Happy weekend everyone!

Taking Care of the Skin Under your Arms

Raw, itchy and a burning feeling on your underarms? We often blame it to dull razors nicking the skin, but sometimes, skin product is the culprit. Most antiperspirants, deodorants, and shaving creams contain fragrance, which is an allergen. Add to that the salts and acids in antiperspirants that can upset skin, plus, your own sweat and the bacteria it breeds.

Dermatologists recommend treating it with over the counter hydrocortisone cream for 3 to 5 days. Once irritation subsides, keep your skin in the clear by replacing your razor blade every 2 weeks. Switch to alcohol-free and fragrance-free products and look for soothing ingredients like aloe vera. It's also advised to wait at least 20 minutes after shaving before applying deodorants and antiperspirants. Also wear breathable cotton clothes or tops as much as possible. If irritation persists, consult your dermatologist.

The Lowest Dealer Parts

My husband drives a Honda, it’s not of the latest model but he is proud that it still performs very well. Despite its age, his friends still admire its impressive handling. It is well-maintained and hubs makes sure that it gets regular tune-ups, change oil and the likes. One of his friends even commented that his Honda still oozes with sex appeal. Just last week, he replaced the car's power steering rack with a new one which he ordered from an online wholesale store. He's quite happy he found that site because he can purchase Honda parts directly at wholesale prices. He sometimes find it difficult to look for spare parts because it's not readily available in the market. If you need dealer parts, steering products in particular, they are in stock and are ready to ship anytime. Just click on the link for more info.

Personality Test Tag

This very interesting Personality Test Tag came from two of my dearest friends, Marzie over at Wishing On A Falling Star and Metz over at Empty Streets 1027. Like Marzie's, my results were pretty much spot on. Thank you guys for this tag, I had fun!

The rules are:

1. Open this website :
2. Take the Personality Quiz (it's VERY short and easy, really)
3. Copy Paste the result to your blog.
4. Tag as many friends as you can and link to the friend who tagged you.

Your view on yourself:
You are intelligent, honest and sweet. You are friendly to everybody and don't like conflict. Because you're so cheerful and fun people are naturally attracted to you and like to talk to you.
The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:
You like serious, smart and determined people. You don't judge a book by its cover, so good-looking people aren't necessarily your style. This makes you an attractive person in many people's eyes.
Your readiness to commit to a relationship:
You prefer to get to know a person very well before deciding whether you will commit to the relationship.
The seriousness of your love:
You are very serious about relationships and aren't interested in wasting time with people you don't really like. If you meet the right person, you will fall deeply and beautifully in love.
Your views on education
Education is very important in life. You want to study hard and learn as much as you can.
The right job for you:
You're a practical person and will choose a secure job with a steady income. Knowing what you like to do is important. Find a regular job doing just that and you'll be set for life.
How do you view success:
You are confident that you will be successful in your chosen career and nothing will stop you from trying.
What are you most afraid of:
You are afraid of things that you cannot control. Sometimes you show your anger to cover up how you feel.
Who is your true self:
You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart rather than your head needs to solve.

Pumpkin Pudding Facial

The carotenoids that give pumpkin it's orange hue, are wrinkle-fighting plant pigments that help neutralize free radicals in the skin. This keeps them from damaging the cells that fast-forward aging. The yummy pumpkin is packed with vitamin C, E, A and powerful enzymes that help cleanse the skin, plus it has hydrating properties.

For a smooth on facial, try this yummy pudding recipe: In a food processor or blender, combine 2 cups canned pumpkin, 4 tablespoons low-fat vanilla yogurt, 4 tablespoons honey, and 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice. Coat face; leave on for 10 minutes, then rinse. To make a sweeter pudding, add 2 tablespoons 1/3 less fat cream cheese and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract. Eat and apply the facial once a week for soft and well-hydrated skin.

Thank You Carlota!!!

A Garage Sale

Do you spend a lot on clothes for your kids? I used to, and there was a time that the ones that no longer fit and the ones that are still new but they don't want to wear anymore kept on piling up. The idea of a garage sale popped up but I simply don't have the time to organize one. My cousin shares the same sentiments, so she volunteered to put up the garage sale. I was surprised when she told me that she signed up for advertise garage sales on the internet. I didn't think it's possible. It's a website that helps individuals advertise and make the garage sale as effective and efficient as possible. Head on to the site if you want to advertise your garage sale or if you're looking for one near your area.
