Wordless Wednesday #4

3-day old finch

We had to take this baby from the nest box. It was blind and the parents aren't feeding it. We hand-fed this baby and it lived for 3 weeks.

Oh such a sad site. I remember having to pick up a small bird once. It fell from its nest after a typhoon. I fed it, kept it under a light to keep him warm and he grew to be an adult bird and was very well trained until one day, my son when he was still a kid, didn't see the bird on his bed and when he turned, he smothered the bird with his pillow. My son cried the whole day.

Poor baby. It looks so tiny and fragile.

I did that once when I was a child. Tried to nurse a baby bird, but they're so fragile and their systems are so delicate that it didn't survive lone.

awww ... too bad. guess it's parents knew that it had a slim chance of living since it was born blind. Cruel, but in nature they do follow the "survival of the fittest" thingy. :)

happy WW!

Aw - at least you tried hard to save it. Most people wouldn't bother - it was very kind of you to do that. Happy WW!

Poor baby. My baby tiels are born with eyes closed. They do not open until 2 weeks. Feeding is hard. At first they MUST be fed every 2 hours. Bless you for trying.
