Move Over Cucumber

When I was still bowling, I used potatoes for my swollen thumb after playing. I would carve a hole from a large potato and stick my thumb for at least 30 minutes to reduce swelling. I used to play 12 to 14 games during finals so just imagine how swollen my thumb is. One of my bowling friends taught me to do that and it really helped soothe my thumb, and I'm ready to play again the next day.

But I never knew that the starchy juice from grated potatoes is also great for treating dark under-eyes. I just read it from a magazine last night. The potato juice has white enzymes called "catecholase" that can brighten the area quickly. Here's how to do it: grate a potato, squeeze to get the juice, dip cotton balls into the juice and apply directly unto the under-eye area. Let it dry and wash off after 30 minutes. Hmmm, it's time to move over cucumber. Potato juice works faster than you do.

I never knew that about potatoes. I do a lot of martial arts and pretty often end up with something swollen or bruised.

What an interesting information. I always have some potato in my kitchen...which I can now use for my eyes instead of buying cucumber. Thanks for sharing this!
