Understanding CFC assay
Colony-forming cell or CFC assay is the most commonly used method to detect the frequency of the cells and their ability to multiply fast before they can be used for transplantation. If you're familiar with stem cells and its ability to heal damaged cells; CFC assay is just one of the processes to test these cells. According to experts, stem cells can be the answer to diabetes; heart diseases; and some types of cancers. More and more labs are switching to this method because apparently, it is the fastest way to count the colonies of cells. Using CFC assay will allow you to forgo culturing of the cells until they are fully matured which can take up about 15 or more days.
