Smooth Rough Calluses

Problem calluses?  Try this little trick I found to smooth them away fast.  Here's what you shoud do:  Soak a cotton ball in castor oil, then secure over trouble spots with first-aid tape.  Leave on overnight.  Don't forget to wear socks to protect your sheets from oil stains.  Do this for seven days and the calluses will soften.  The oil contains extra-moisturizing ricin-oleic acid that penetrates deep into rough skin.

What's New in Flooring

One of the best websites you should visit when improving the look of your flooring is www.rhodesflooringamericabiloxi.com/tile-flooring.  I'm shifting to tile flooring because tiles are durable and easier to clean and maintain.  I don't usually recommend websites to my readers especially if I have not tried purchasing from them.  I was looking to change the look of my kitchen flooring when I landed on this page.  Although I'm still in the planning and budgeting stages, I'm already looking for places where I can get affordable ceramic tiles for my kitchen.

When I saw this website, I immediately looked for the reviews.  I wanted to know if their flooring materials are of good quality and if the service is great.  Since I will be ordering online; I wanted to make sure that I will not have problems with the customer service should something go wrong with my orders.  I was pleased that the reviews I found are mostly good.  Their prices are very competitive too.  The sophisticated ceramic tile flooring I chose will instantly upgrade my kitchen even if I won't have a total renovation.  I'm still waiting for my orders and I will give you updates once the tiles have arrived.  Right now, hubs and I are excited about how my kitchen is going to look after the "semi" makeover.

Tips for Shiny Hair

Don’t you just love it when your hair feels smooth and looks shiny?  Here are some tips for great looking hair all the time and never wake up to bad hair days anymore.

Try using hair serum.  You can get this in beauty stores or even the supermarket.  Serums moisturize hair and tame unruly hair.  Just use a pea-sized amount and apply to wet hair.  Work from the bottom of your hair going up rubbing the serum with your hands.

Never wash hair with warm or hot water; this could easily dry and damaged your locks.  Washing and rinsing with cool water closes the cuticle, allowing light to reflect off the hair and producing lots of shine.

Be careful when blow-drying. It won't hurt your locks if you direct the dryer's nozzle down the hair shafts as you hold each section of hair with a round brush. Finish it off by using the “cool” button on your hair dryer.  Just like rinsing with cool water, the cool air will close the cuticle.

Drink plenty of water.  Doing so will ensure that your locks are properly moisturized.  Also eat nutritious foods for a regular supply of vitamins A and E.  Your hair needs them to become strong and.

Lastly, limit your hair’s exposure to harsh chemicals.

Durable and Affordable Flooring

Are you looking for elegant yet inexpensive flooring?  Then follow this link and head on to the website.  They cater to all kinds of flooring surfaces; tiles, wood floors, carpets, vinyl, laminate flooring and many more.  I discovered this website when I was looking for ceramic tiles for my kitchen.  Compared to the other flooring sites I've been to, their prices are lower.

I was tired of the plain cement finish of my kitchen flooring and I wanted to use tiles because they are easy to clean and they are less absorbent than wood.  They are also less expensive and I know that they will last a long time.  I grew up in a home where the flooring is marble.  Aside from its great look, it's durable and easy to maintain.  I wanted it in my home but I couldn't afford marbles at this time; so tiles are the next best thing.

What I like about tiles is that aside from being reasonably durable they can easily be replaced should it crack or chip.  Plus, they are less likely to fade than wood.  For you flooring needs, I suggest you give the site a visit.  There are so many styles and designs to choose from and the prices are surprisingly low.

Gluten: The Real Reason Behind Your Tiredness

Do you ever wonder what's causing your tiredness? The day is only halfway through but it's already hard to keep your eyes open; and you know you've had enough sleep and you have eaten enough but still, you feel tired easily. It could be that the gluten epidemic has hit you. Millions of women are suffering from celiac disease, a disorder of the small intestine that is caused by an adverse reaction to gluten.

Experts don't usually suspect this could be the culprit behind your tiredness because many women don't suffer from GI problems. So how do you know it's the gluten? On top of the fatigue, you could also suffer from bloating, anemia, brain fog, tummy pains and weight gain. If you have these symptoms, you could ask your doctor to do a blood test for gluten intolerance.

It will also do you well to avoid gluten -- food and drinks that contain wheat, barley, and rye -- because ingesting even a small amount of this can bring on the symptoms. There are gluten-free foods like brown rice, quinoa, gluten-free rice, amaranth, arrowroot, buckwheat. Add more vegetables to your diet and use a gluten free salad dressing on your salads. It could be daunting in the beginning but once you're used to it, you'll never want to go back to your old diet again. In only a few weeks, you'll notice that your health will start to turn around and you'll lose the excess pound faster.

While you're at it, check your lipstick. Many lipstick brands contain gluten so applying it and licking your lips can bring on fatigue. Choose a lipstick that's free of this protein to totally cut it out of your system.

For Luigi, there is no excuse that his group can't get a great sound because they now have the best eq. All of them worked hard to save for it and now that they have it, they can only aim for perfection. They have a few new songs that need to be recorded and they hope to bring them to their fans on their next gig. Luigi and his friends play on weekends at a nearby bar. Hubs and I are looking forward to watching them perform this weekend.

How We Won the Fight Against Patty’S Alcohol Dependence

Betty, my good friend, was distraught and on the verge of depression when she learned that her daughter was addicted to alcohol. Over the past few months, Betty noticed that her daughter, Patty had changed drastically from the outgoing and active young girl to one who never left her room, and went around with her hair unkempt and her clothes in a shabby state. In the beginning, the changes had been less pronounced. The family noticed that she was irritable and could never seem to follow the conversations at the dinner table. She ate less and less and her skin changed from the rosy freshness of youth to wan and almost faded. She looked old.

Worried, Betty and her husband James brought Patty to the doctor for a checkup. That was how they discovered that Patty had become an alcohol dependent. The couple immediately went around looking for a drug alcohol rehab where they could enroll Patty and help her get over her alcohol addiction. She went through a series of assessments that measured the intensity of her addiction. The facility used a two-pronged program that addressed her alcohol dependence as well as the mental disorder that drove her to drink. Their family attended sessions and workshops that made each one of them aware of how they contributed to Patty’s degeneration and also helped them to identify what they can do to support and assist in her recovery. The experience brought their family (and friends) together, strengthened their familial ties and brought back the Patty we knew and loved.

Cosmetic surgery: On Deciding to go for it

Men and women both love to look pleasing and well groomed most of the time. While they say beauty comes with age, not everyone is lucky to be blessed with good looks and fit body. Some resort to having cosmetic surgery done.

While they say it is pretty expensive and risky, these don’t stop people who go under the knife. Whether it is worth it or not, it really depends on the person’s reason on why they go through it. There are several tips on cosmetic surgery that may come in handy if you decide to do it.

•    Choose the body part you want to have a cosmetic surgeon alter. Is it your nose, lips, stomach or butt?
•    Research about different licensed cosmetic surgeons or ask around from people who already gone through cosmetic surgery.
•    Know how the results of their surgeries to have an idea if he has a track record of successful outcomes under his belt.
•    Ask yourself the real reason why you want to have something changed in your body. Is it to boost your self-confidence, for your significant other or health reasons? Whatever it is, do it because it is the right thing and you completely know what you are doing.
•    Weigh the pros and cons of getting a cosmetic surgery.
•    Once you have decided on what procedure you want and which doctor will perform the cosmetic surgery, pay him a visit. Ask him questions regarding the process, the cost, the results, the recovery period, among other things.
•    Set a date to particularly know how long you will need to take some time off from work—this includes the surgery date and recovery period.
•    Have a support system from your family and friends. They can give good advices and encouragements.

Loving yourself and your body differs from one person to the other. Going under the knife may make some people happy. Before doing it though, think twice and know what comes with it. Research, decide firmly and if you feel strongly about then give it ago. Don’t do it abruptly and take your time before deciding on a life changing surgery.

Stylish and Affordable

I was a little worried when hubs' favorite cousin asked for a briefcase. It's his birthday next week and when hubs asked him what he wanted, he said he needed a new briefcase. I was worried because I thought it's expensive. No one uses a briefcase at home so I had no idea. It turned out I was wrong because the leather briefcases at GotBriefcases.com were very affordable. A friend told me about the website, and she was right. Their briefcases are stylish yet easy on the pocket. I'm sure hubs' cousin will like what I got for him.

Stay Hydrated

One way to keep your skin youthful is to always keep your skin moist.  When your skin is properly hydrated, it retains elasticity and prevents skin from drying.

How do you keep skin hydrated?  It's simple.  Just drink plenty of water and use moisturizing cream or lotion.  It's ideal to apply the moisturizer right after taking a shower when skin is still damp.

Green Printing using Soy Ink

I'm glad that the issue about plastic bags was finally given attention.  Our city's goal now is to go green.  Plastic bags are not allowed anymore.  Well, it's not a total ban because you can still buy them if you really want to use plastic bags.  But once people get used to it, I'm sure they would eventually forget about using plastics.  Even companies are supporting the drive.  My uncle's printing shop is also implementing green printing.  They are now using environment friendly inks and papers.  I say friendly because the inks used are from soy and the papers are recycled.

Human Embryonic Stem Cells

A lot of beauty products now are using stem cell as an ingredient.  These human embryonic stem cells are believed to help you turn back the clock because of their ability to regenerate and replace damaged and dead cells.

My cousin is getting crazy over these products.  Among all of us, she is the  (because she is the oldest) to look younger.  She really spends a lot of money on these products.  She is encouraging me to try them but I still have reservations.  I'd like to see some results first.  If her fine lines would diminish, then why not?

Colony Forming Units

While she does stem cell culture and colony forming assay, her best friend does colony forming units.  Mel says her job is as interesting as my sister's.  What she does in the lab is separate and count the viable bacterial and fungal numbers.  Other studies count everything including dead cells; Mel only counts the workable cells.  These viable cells are the ones used to multiply and regenerate.  It's complicated especially for me who is not very familiar with the terms they use when they talk about their jobs.  What I do know is these stem cells will be used to treat major diseases.

Stem Cell Culture

I think it was about four years ago when I first heard about stem cell technology.  Scientists then were researching for the potential of these cells to cure major diseases.  But now, stem cell culture has become very popular because it is now used as an ingredient in beauty products.  Stem cells are believed to turn back the clock.  No wonder beauty product manufacturers are adding this ingredient in their products.  I'm more interested in stem cell culture for health purposes.  My dad is diabetic and my father in law is suffering from heart disease.  I am hopeful that this medical breakthrough will be able to help them.

Colony Forming Assay

Things had become easier with colony forming assay.  Nowadays, experts can easily check if a cancer patient is sensitive to some drugs.  I'm not sure how it's really done but according to my sister who works in a lab; the cells are grown in vitro in soft agar.  It is done to measure the toxicity level in drug development and to determine dosage strategies.

My sister's job as a lab technician is a little complicated but she enjoys it a lot.  I never thought she would end up as one because she is an advertising graduate.  She hated Science when we were young.  She didn't even have a lab tech certificate when she applied for the job.  Now, she is one of the best lab techs in their lab.  She has plans of going back to school to get certified.

Pretty and Healthy Nails

Want your nails to look their best?  Here are some tips from Celebrity manicurist Dana Caruso.  According to her, exfoliation is a must.  Use a good pumice scrub to gently polish feet to make skin soft and smooth to the touch. Lavender and tea tree oil are great conditioners for your nails so look for these ingredients when buying cream or lotion.

Our nails, both in the hands and feet needs moisture so make sure they are well hydrated.  If your hands and nails are too dry, make them glow again by using a rich hand cream with shea butter.

It Never Fades Too

The beautiful diamond ring that my husband gave to me on our first wedding anniversary is still with me.  It was also the first jewelry he gave me after our wedding.  It was not an expensive ring because he still couldn't afford it at that time.  We married young and although both our parents supported us, we were still struggling financially at that time.  I remember him saying that he got it from his sister's friend who's selling synthetic diamond rings.  These diamonds are grown in a lab.  They have the same structure and physical properties of a naturally grown diamond that is why they are classified as real diamonds.  And it really is pretty you'd never think it's synthetic; unless of course, you are an expert.

I have received several other jewelry gifts from him over the years and as our financial status improved; so are the jewelries.  Still, the first ring is my favorite.  It may not be as expensive as a real diamond but it was given on our first anniversary.  Like a real diamond, its beauty never faded.

If you are looking for an affordable alternative to give your loved one, give synthetic diamond rings a look.  It's simple, elegant and also as romantic.

Arturo Fuente is Tasty Down to the End

I wasn't very sure when I went to the cigar booth to buy some cigars for my grandfather. I know he's very particular with the brand he smokes but I was bad to forget about his birthday and now I don't have time to order for his favorite. The girl at the shop recommended arturo fuente. She said it's the brand that most of her customers buy. Knowing nothing about cigars, I relied on her words. Well, I'm glad I did because my grandfather says it's good. He added that it is very smooth and tasty down to the end. Whew!

Avocado Mask

Well I'm sure you already know that avocado is great for your heart and at lowering LDL (bad cholesterol).  But did you know that avocado is also good for your dry skin?  Here, try this DIY mask to moisturize your skin.  To do: Mash the meat of the fruit into a creamy texture.  Apply it on your face and leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse off with warm water then splash your face with cold water to close up pores.

Clean Living

At my age, I had to change my lifestyle to be fit and remain healthy. This year didn't start well for me health-wise. Exercise and a healthy diet are just some of the steps I took to keep fit. I've also been taking vitamins and other supplements so I can meet my daily nutrition requirements. To cleanse my system of any harmful toxins, I rely on co enzyme q10 antioxidant. Our body needs regular cleansing too. I try as much as possible to keep everything balanced. I stay away from junk food even if I feel the urge to munch on some.  Junk foods were my favorites! I started watching my intake and prepared my own meals. I have made a calendar of foods for an entire month. I don't repeat anything so I look forward to my next repast.

No, I have not gone extreme; I still enjoy my meats. My boys are meat lovers; they wouldn't like it if I eliminate the meats in our meals. My family enjoys the healthy lifestyle though. They do indulge themselves from time time to time, but they quickly go back to our regimen. We all know how anything excessive is bad for our health. Keeping everything balanced is the key to a long and healthy life. I'm glad that more and more restaurants now offer healthy alternatives in their menu. Clean living is all about going green and living healthy.
