Review: The Skin Regime (book and peel)

I was recently sent a copy of The Skin Regime book by Dana Ramos and a sample bottle of 1-4-All Peel. I've never done this before, so I was excited and a little scared at the same time when the book and the product arrived.

Product Description

  • Layer-able skin peel for all skin types and colors
  • Reduces fine lines, acne, skin discoloration (melasma), evens tone
  • Mild or strong peel--you decide by adding layers
  • Enough for up to 40 Peels in one bottle!

My Opinion

The author of the book, Dana Ramos and her friend, who is a dermatologist, Dr. David Bank, collaborated to create this humorous and easy-to-read book about proper skin care. I say humorous because I like the author's funny writing style. You can read all 147 pages without getting bored. It's full of great information and you will really learn so much from this book.

As soon as I started reading, I knew I'd really enjoy this book. It's an easy read and I was able to finish it in one sitting. Dana used simple words, so it's easier for everyone to understand. It does not actually seem like you're reading it; it's as if she's right in front of you and you're having a conversation.

What's great about Dana's book is it doesn't only talk about skin care. She also wrote about taking care of your hair, nails, hands, feet and more.

Now, let's talk about the skin peel. Dana stressed that for you to get the best results, you should follow the instructions. So, after washing my face I applied alcohol and let it dry. I then applied the peel using a cotton ball. Although the peel is layerable (depending on how strong you want it to be, but you cannot go above 4 layers), I only applied it once. I waited for 5 minutes and washed as usual and followed up with a moisturizer.

There was redness on my skin and yeah, I felt a little sting, but according to the instructions, that's normal. The redness and burning sensation only lasted for a few minutes and it didn't even bother me. I'm not sure if it's just me or maybe it's because I only applied one layer, but I didn’t experience any peeling or flaking. I'd like to do it again, but as per instructions, I have to wait a minimum of 7 days before I could do it again.

Recommendation

If you like taking care of your skin, The Skin Regime is a very interesting book and I can assure you that you will learn so much from it.
