    No More Oily Face

Let's face it, no matter how many times you wash your face, the unflattering shine on your T-zone is back in just a few minutes. Blame it on facial cleansers, experts say. They strip the skin of moisture, sending your oil glands into overdrive.

To put a stop to this problem, try this simple DIY solution. Combine 1/2 cup of orange juice, 1 tablespoon of cornstarch and a sprinkle of salt in a small bowl. Smooth over skin and leave on for 10 minutes, then rinse with warm water. The astringent quality of the citric acid in the juice cleanses pores, while the cornstarch and salt combo lifts oil without drying out skin. You'll have a flawless finish that lasts for hours.

    Clementines For Your Skin

Clementines contain citric acid, an antimicrobial agent that eliminates blemish-causing bacteria when applied to the face. The sweet juice can also lessen fine lines and wrinkles because its vitamin C encourages cells to increase production of collagen, a protein that keeps skin smooth, toned and younger looking.

Try this beautifying mask for a perfect complexion: In a small bowl, whisk 1 egg white and juice of 1 clementine until soft peaks form. Apply to face and let sit for 15 minutes. Rinse well with warm water. Do it once or twice a week for smooth, glowing skin. :)

    Pain Relief Creams Alert

A lot of us are afraid to visit pain clinics and talk to a doctor when we feel something wrong with our bodies. And often times, we take those pains for granted thinking that it's nothing and it would go away quickly. Or sometimes, we're just too afraid to find out that something could really be wrong. I must admit that I think like that, I really don't give much attention to simple head aches, tummy aches, and ankle pain. For me, a little REST does the trick.

I used to be so generous when I slather pain relief creams onto my skin until I have read an article about it saying that too much can hurt. Over the counter creams should be applied thinly. An athlete, Arielle Newman died from sports cream overdose. She used large amounts of pain relieving ointments which contain methyl salicylate. Reports say, it may have interacted with other aspirin-based medicines she was using which caused her cardiac arrest.

Although this is a rare case, it is always better to be on the safe side than be sorry later on. If you think that if a little bit is good, a lot is even better, think again. This is not true when it comes to what we slather on our body. Now I make it a point to read heal-n-soothe reviews before applying them on my skin.

Here are some important rules to follow when using pain relief creams.

    • FOLLOW LABEL DIRECTIONS - always use the correct dosage.
    • NEVER COVER THE AREA - don't wrap or apply heat to your skin after putting a product on your skin unless you are following doctor's instructions. Wrapping or occlusion increases absorption.
    • ASK QUESTIONS - anytime you get a treatment at a spa or salon that involves wrapping, make sure you ask what's being applied, if there are any dangers, and how long you'll be wrapped.
    • BE CAREFUL AROUND THE SKIN - protective top layers of keratin are lacking in thin-skinned areas [armpits, groin, eyelids] and mucus membranes [nasal passages, mouth, vaginal and rectal regions], so medication have a stronger effect in these places.
    • TALK TO YOUR DOC - just because you get it over the counter doesn't mean you shouldn't tell your doctor about it.
    • CHECK FOR FDA/BFAD APPROVAL - products approved by them have been tested and are labeled with appropriate warnings and directions for use.

    Long Lasting Manicure

For busy moms, getting a manicure is a "once-in-a-while" indulgence. Just think, when else do you get to sit still for 30 minutes? And I'm sure you're annoyed when your manicure chips just two days later. To ensure those tips stay tidy, ask your manicurist to sweep a light coat of polish under each nail's edge. This technique envelops the nail in polish and will minimize chipping, making your manicure last longer.

    A Good and Responsible Rider

Isn't is annoying to have your mom barking at you every time you head out the door to wear your helmet before you hop on your scooter? Moms worry even at the smallest things and riding a motorbike is far more dangerous than driving a car, so put a stop to that. As a rider, I'm sure you know how important wearing a motorcycle helmet is. Wear it every time you get on that scooter, and soon she will find the topic so mundane she would stop nagging you. Let her know you are being a good and responsible rider and she will keep out of your riding business.

It won't hurt to be cautious because accidents do happen. The impact on your head is significantly reduced when you are wearing a helmet during a motorcycle accident. Motorcycle helmets are designed to cushion and protect your head from the impact of an accident. Come to think of it, it may be the only protection you have if you experience an accident while riding. Wearing a helmet does not limit your ability to hear or see what is happening around you.

And while you're out to show her you're a responsible rider, protect yourself with Leather Vests as well. A vest of good quality can protect you from the sun, wind and rain. You may also want to take a look at Motorcycle saddlebags for your belongings.

Please don't be stubborn about this, it's for your own good anyway. Stop your momma from worrying, wear the helmet!

    Softer, Smoother Feet

The cold months are here, so expect the cold dry air to leave your heels arid and cracked. But this little trick will let you wake up to smooth, super soft heels. Here's what you should do: Simply rinse your footsies with warm water and massage a dab of vegetable shortening into the problem spots. Then slip on a pair of thick cotton socks and leave them on overnight. In the morning, just wash it off in the shower. Thanks to shortening's fatty acids, it lubricates coarse, callused heels while locking in skin's own moisture.

    Outwit Cramps with Orange

Are those menstrual symptoms "cramping" your style? According to color experts, wearing something orange can help you feel better fast. Why orange? I too was wondering what the color has to do with PMS when I first saw the article, but gazing at the fiery hue causes your brain's pineal gland to release endorphins. This reduces the intensity of cramps and increases feelings of overall well being.

I have not tried it because I have never experienced PMSing, but if you do try it, please let us know if it's really effective. ^-^

    Selling Online Soon

My sister-in-law, who owns a craft store has been offered by her thread supplier to sell their products online. She's been contemplating whether to accept or not because she is worried about not being very knowledgeable when it comes to selling online and building her own website. She knows hubs and I manage several blogs so she asked if we could help her. Of course, we are willing to help. Offers like that don't come very often and this could be her big break considering the current economic situation prevailing globally. The craft store is not doing too well, add to that the damage caused by the two typhoons that ravaged Luzon in the last two weeks. Expanding online could turn things around for her.

I've been helping her search for a hosting site that would host her online store. Looking at all those stuff she could sell, from different brands of threads, patterns and almost all kinds of arts and crafts materials, I had to consider the bandwidth. I am so sure she’ll be getting a lot of traffic and she’ll be uploading her catalog of products as well.

I'm looking at inmotion host right now. So far it's the cheapest and they provide a range of competitively priced hosting plans suitable for all types of sites, whether it's a small personal webpage or a large e-commerce business, needing huge transfer and storage quotas. Inmost will also take care of her domain registration and will help her through the process of building her website. I am just waiting for her go signal so we could start building her online store. Hubs and I are so excited for her and we are very positive this is going to be a hit.

    Bring Back Natural Color

Do you have yellowish nails because of nail polish? Yeah, a deep red manicure definitely adds instant glamour to any look, but when the polish comes off, your nails are stained yellow. Here's the fix: Grab two tooth-whitening strips and cut each into five nail-size pieces. Apply them to nails and leave on for 20 minutes. Do it daily for 1 week. The tooth-bleaching agent in the strips, hydrogen peroxide, will gently restore your nails' natural hue.

    My New Cookbook

My brother works for a hotel chain. From time to time, he sends me cookbooks. The last one he sent was the big fat duck cookbook. It’s one of the most successful restaurants around. Being a bookworm and a book buff, this is one book I learned to love. Not only does it present some of its recipes, it also tells of the history behind the restaurant’s rise to success. I’ve always dreamt of having my own small bistro someday and this book really inspires me.

I would highly recommend this fascinating book for anyone who loves to cook and a dreamer as well. If for some reason you are unable to get hold of this book, ebooks are available through the net. Nothing beats a book which not only informs, educates and inspire all at the same time. In fact, some of my friends like the book as well and are planning to give them as Christmas presents. It simply is so inspiring. I just can’t put this book down and I will surely try out the recipes featured in it. I may only have a dream right now but who knows, I might just pursue my dream someday.
