Clear Breakouts with Meadowsweet

Meadowsweet, a flower that belongs to the rose family, can fight breakouts and redness.  When steeped in a tea, the white creamy flower can help treat stomach upset, aches and pains, and fever.  The flowers are a rich source of vitamin C and salicylic acid, making it an excellent astringent.  When buying products to fight breakouts and rosacea, make sure you look for meadowsweet in the ingredients.  It can also be helpful in treating puffiness, swelling, cold sores, sunburn, dark circles, and itchy rashes.

Liz, the Crafter

Even though my eyes are bad already, I'm tempted to go back into jewelry making.  If you frequent this blog, you probably know that I'm a crafter.  I love doing a lot of things -- cross stitch, embroidery, bead work, jewelry making, papier tole, etc.

While looking for stuff online, I happened to find a website that sells gorgeous 2 hole slider beads.  The floral designs are so gorgeous.  I'm a sucker for flowers and the beads are so colorful and simply stunning.  Even my daughter, who saw the cute beads is encouraging me to try it again; she says I wear glasses anyway.  We used to do jewelries together but she got too busy in school.  After college, she worked for a while and then got married.  Now she is busy with her twins so I don't think she'll have time to go back to jewelry making as well.  But I can't take those lovely beads off my mind; maybe I should give it a try.

The Vest Says It All

I've been involved with a non-government organization for several years now. Our advocacy is women empowerment and informed choice. New members are issued a Cool Vest bearing our organization's logo. Through the years, we have grown and our regular outreach programs continue to educate mothers and even single women on how to manage and handle a family. Even husbands have shown interest in our seminars. We do have male members too and they also receive Cool Vests but with a different color, a more masculine one. My husband is one of our avid supporters. His company often give donations for our programs.

It is very fulfilling to be able to educate women of their rights, their health and their role in society. We also have support groups for single mothers and battered women. One does not have to suffer in silence or be at a loss when confronted with family and marital issues. The family is the basic unit of society. It has to be strong and should founded on values. We however do not have any religious sects involved with our organization. We would like to be perceived as independent and unbiased. I hope we can reach more women and help families who are in need.

A Beautiful Wedding

My daughter is lucky to have a very good friend who happens to be an event manager. They have known each other since high school and Lou promised her that once she becomes an events coordinator, she'll be the one to take care of my daughter's wedding.  Now she is an expert when it comes to organizing corporate events, weddings, and even concerts and social events.

When my daughter and her husband got married last March, her friend did all the event management and planning.  She and her long-time boyfriend were scheduled to board the cruise ship last April so they decided to get married before leaving.  The couple was set on having just a civil wedding and a quiet reception because there was so little time, but her best friend insisted that she can arrange for a church or chapel wedding.

With so little time, her best friend did miracles and produced a simple yet elegant wedding.  From the church to the reception and even the flowers and gowns, she was able to arrange all these in a hurry.  No wonder her boss is all praises to her.  She found a jewel in this girl.  Lou is well connected; she was able to hire a florist and a Dj in so little time.  The wedding was beautiful and truly memorable.  Lou made her best friend the happiest by giving her a wonderful wedding.

Feed Your Skin with Green Tea

I'm sure you already know that antioxidants are very beneficial to the body as well as the skin.  They fight free radicals that cause inflammation and rid the body of toxins.  I am also sure you already know that green tea extracts offer a lot of the beneficial antioxidants.  If you drink the brew, you'll enjoy a lot of internal benefits; the antioxidants in green tea are known to fight cancer and other major diseases.  But did you know that green tea's rich stores of polyphenols can also fight the early signs of aging?  Yup!  Green tea extracts helps  hydrate skin to keep it smooth and looking young.  But when you shop for beauty products containing green tea, make sure there’s enough green tea extract.  It might not be effective if there is too little.  According to experts, creams containing an adequate amount of green tea will look brown, so that's your cue.

Wireless Temperature Monitoring Device

I wasn't aware that restaurants now are using a wireless temperature monitoring device.  My family used to be involved in the restaurant business and we've never had this before.  We used to get this service from a temperature monitoring company who checks the restaurant and the food storage from time to time.  I only heard from a friend who owns Cafe Monaco that she uses this now.  Well, that's great because aside from saving money from hiring a company to do this for you, you can now keep track of your place's temperature any time.  I think even other establishments are using this device.

A lit graduate, my cousin is currently reviewing for her GRE. She already has a lot of offers from other school to teach but she still wants to pursue graduate study. Being just qualified seems to be not enough for her; she wants to be an expert before she starts teaching. While my other cousins her age are already working, Reese is busy reviewing and answering gre practice questions. She'll be taking the October test.

Saving for a Guitar

When my BFF and I were having lunch yesterday, I mentioned to her that my son is also interested in guitars but he doesn't have the basics yet. He'll be starting with his guitar lessons next month and we're saving up on a guitar. She told me that her son buys his instruments at Guitar Strings guitar center. I listed the name and the web address so I can tell my son about it. He's been meaning to get a bass guitar and my BFF says they have cheap offers on that website. My son is going to be excited once he hears this.

Late for Lunch

You're late for lunch. That's the text message I sent to my BFF yesterday while I was waiting for her at the restaurant. We were supposed to meet at 12 but she was already 25 minutes late. The reply I got was "I'm on my way, I helped my son buy radial engineering effects pedals." She arrived 15 minutes later. J is never late; yesterday was the first time so it was alright. The pedals were for his son's guitar. He has a band and their pretty good. They'll be having a gig tonight and hubs and I are invited.

Mrs. J.'s Veneers

My neighbor, Mrs. Javier is showing me her new veneers.  Last week, one of her upper front teeth broke.  Her teeth had become brittle, probably because of her age (Mrs. J. is already 55).  I actually envy her (not the broken tooth though) because at her age, she still has a complete set of teeth.  No dentures and not even a porcelain crown.

She says she was able to afford the veneers because her daughter had a dental plan for their family.  She only paid half of what was usually charged for dental services.  I remember spending almost thirty thousand pesos for my porcelain crowns a few years back.  I have never heard about dental insurance plans then so I really went way out of budget that time.  It was only recently that I got my family a plan and although none of us has used this for major dental services, my family enjoys a fifty percent discount on cleaning services.  Paying an annual fee on dental insurance is not bad considering the great discounts that you can get with the services.

Mrs. J. plans to have all her front teeth in veneers.  The upper teeth are finished so she'll be going back for the her lower teeth.  If she didn't have a dental plan, she will be spending so much on these services.

Seeing Old Friends

It's great that mom is once again connected with her friends.  When she heard that one of her classmates is back, she contacted some of their high school friends so they can meet up here at home.  They haven't seen each other for years and it's good that mom and dad are socializing again.  My parents kind of lost their interest in seeing old friends when bad economy hit their business several years ago.  The people whom they thought of as friends (and even some relatives) turned their backs on us.

Anyway, the high school friends I'm talking about were not one of them. Going back, mom invited her friends to come over and have lunch with  us.  Mom and I prepared for a barbecue party and I helped her rearrange the patio furniture to accommodate all of them.  I removed the outdoor furniture covers and cleaned the yard.  I also ordered for some fresh flowers so the patio would look nice.

I didn't think the time for lunch would be enough for her and her friends; they have not seen each other for a long time and there were a lot of catching up to do.  And my hunch was right; they stayed up until dinner time.  Mom didn't know that I prepared extra food for dinner.  I wanted to be ready just in case.

They all had a wonderful day and they are planning to get together again soon.  I think the next meet up will be at Aunt Lydia's house.

SEO Toronto

My friend has been blogging for several years now. She moved a couple of years ago to Toronto. To raise awareness on her blogs, she employed the professional help of SEO Toronto. Blogging has always been her bread and butter. Awareness is a blogger's best friend especially the professional ones. Her decision has paid off. Traffic in all her sites have been steadily increasing, and so is her popularity. Little by little, work has been coming in. It was all worth it; the small investment she put in employing an SEO is doing wonders for her. She now wonders how better the results would have been had she used these SEOs earlier.

The Battle Against the Wires

My husband has finally installed the last one of the remaining wireless intercom system. Taking out the intercom and pulling out the wires took longer than installing the new intercom system. No more messy wireless that easily wear out. The new wireless system has no wires to change every so often. No more cranky husband who has to deal with busted wires every few months. No matter how much he insulates those wires, elements and even insects still manage to get into them. The trip to the mall was well worth it. My husband was able to discover the existence of wireless intercom and driveway alarms.  There were other wireless systems and gadgets there but that's a different story. He says, the driveway alarm is his next project and after that, he'd install a remote car starter in each of our cars.

What really matters most for my husband is that he has finally solved the problems of conventional intercom had been giving him all these years. Those pesky wires were just too much for him. We have seen the last of the intercom wire headaches. You could see the satisfaction and triumph on my husband's face as he tightened the last screw. He was smiling, elated that he has won the war of the wires. He finished up, tested the intercom in the kitchen and cleaned his tools. I'm sure he's excited to start with his next project.

Ward Off Sunburn with Watermelon

Sunburn?  Ward it off with watermelon.  The juicy fruit is packed with lycopene, an antioxidant that protects skin against UV-induced free radical damage.  Studies show that people who had a daily lycopene intake equivalent to the amount in two cups of watermelon experienced 40 percent less intense sunburn after exposure to UV light.

Reach for Popcorn

Looking for a snack?  Reach for popcorn!  The snack is now being hailed for its rich stores of polyphenols, antioxidants known to combat cancer.  So go ahead, put two tablespoon of the gold kernels in your popcorn machine and you would get as much as 500 mg of the cancer-fighting compounds.

An even more surprising news?  The yummy snack contains more of the healthy compounds than fruits and vegetables.  And just like fruits and vegetables, you can eat it as often as you want.  But hey, I didn't mention butter if that's what you're thinking.  Butter has lots of fat so if you are watching your weight or you have problems with your heart and cholesterol; it would be better to steer clear of this flavoring. You can find a lot of healthy dashes at your local stores or you can make your own.  You wouldn't believe salt and vinegar with a dash of cayenne pepper will make your popcorn superb.  Even my kids love it.  And what do you think about pesto popcorn?  Go ahead and find out for yourself.

If you still don't have a popcorn popper, you might want to click on the link for the best popcorn machines.

Wedding Cake Toppers - Show Stoppers

I recall one of my friends' wedding which our group helped prepare. She gave specific instructions to us that she wanted something out of the ordinary. She doesn't want an iota of tradition. She wants something that would describe her gregarious personality and her fiance's somewhat geeky personality. While some of us busied ourselves with the motif and the wedding decorations that would go with it, a couple of our friends volunteered to take care of the cake and food. The menu was finished in no time. The list of food to be served was perfect. They looked at several wedding cake toppers for the three-tiered fondant cake. They took several snapshots of the toppers and we voted which ones we will use. The toppers were pretty hilarious and we had a hard time trying to stop laughing.

The wedding day arrived and our friend saw the fruits of our extraordinary work. She and her fiance couldn't stop laughing. Friends and family also couldn't stop snickering. The pastor had a wide grin all through the ceremony. The wedding decorations we chose were just the appetizer, everybody laughed out loud when the huge cake was rolled in. The toppers stole the show. Everyone clapped in appreciation when our friend introduced the architects of her wedding.

Under One Roof

And I thought I have seen everything. My husband just discovered EquipSupply. It's an online shopping mall for DIYs, When I say DIYs, I don't mean just construction or carpentry. This shop also caters to party and events DIYs. I couldn't peel him off the computer. He's like a kid on Christmas day. He is a DIY guy and loves organizing parties too. He has built several tables and benches which we use when we have barbecues and parties. They also have canopies and tents which my husband is very much interested in. When he's in the mood for a barbecue, he doesn't want the weather ruining it.

Of course the site sells his favorite stuff, tools, lots of tools. They have both hand and power tools. They even have tools for metal fabrication. He uses these on his restoration projects. Aside from building cabinets and shelves, he also makes frames with intricate designs. He has done several of our doors and constructed his work shed on his own. They also have some of the specialty tools that are quite hard to find and acquire. I suppose he'll soon be ordering tools left and right. Having all of them under one roof just made his hobby a whole lot easier.

In Denial

For most parents, it's hard to admit that something is wrong with your child.  That's what happened to my cousin when another parent from her son's school commented that her son might be suffering from ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder).  Adrian can't sit still for more than a minute.  He is always very active and is having a difficult time focusing in school.  Actually, not just in school but even at home.

My cousin felt very hurt when she heard the comment; she was crying when she came to me.  I explained to her that it would be best to bring Adrian to a doctor because it might be true.  She was of course, in denial but her mom finally convinced her to have Adrian checked.  True enough, the test results were positive.  Adrian is suffering from ADHD.  It was hard for her to admit but she had to if she wants to help her son.  Treatment was recommended and a drug was given to help bring back the balance in the brains and nerves.  She also researched about the drug and found that users have significantly improved with it.  It was also good that she did because she found out she can buy adderall online.  The nearest pharmacy is miles away from their house; ordering online is more convenient.

The whole family is praying that Adrian's ADHD will be cured.  This is the first case in our family and we are all working hard to support my cousin.

Think Wireless

Wireless seems to be the in thing right now when it comes to gadgets.  I have to admit that I was awed when I first saw a wireless keyboard and a wireless mouse.  I mean, really it's not a big deal but I found it really cool.  Nowadays, everything seems to be wireless; wireless intercom; wireless doorbell; wireless microphone; wireless phone; etc.

Wireless gadgets are very practical to use.  Aside from the fact that they are easier to install, there will be no wires to clip or hide.  There are times that I can get too clumsy and I will admit that I have tripped several times because of tangled wires.  They are even more embarrassing because those accidents happened in my store where a lot of people saw me.  I had to hire an electrician just to fix the messy wires.  When the old intercom system needed replacement; hubs also made sure he bought a wireless unit.  The wires at the store are now kept neat; there are no dangling wires anymore so there's no chance of tripping again.

I guess that's another reason why wireless gadgets have become popular. You feel safer especially when you have toddlers who love to roam around the house.  Next time you're installing a gadget, think wireless.

Pop that Corn

Did you know that popcorn is an ideal snack for those who are trying to lose weight?  Yeah, you read it right.  The favorite movie time snack is so filling that it can help sidestep food cravings.  Of course, you should stay clear of butter.  Don't feel bad because you can still enjoy it with a lot of other flavors.  Experts say cayenne pepper is the best because the capsaicin in this pepper will also boost your metabolism.  For those who can't take their popcorn hot, you can choose from other flavors like salt and vinegar, fiesta lime, smoky paprika, sweet n low, and many more.

The next time you crave for food, bring out that popcorn popper and start making a healthy snack before you ever think about all those high in fat, high in sugar, and high in salt snacks.  Aside from being healthy and filling, popcorn is a cheap snack.  You'll never get tired of it because with popcorn, the possibilities are endless.  My kids love mixing the spices and they come up with unique flavors.

Stay away from microwave popcorn; they are usually loaded with salt, fat, and artificial flavoring.  Having your own popcorn machine at home will ensure that your family is always having a healthy and nutritious snack.

Furniture Retail Software

I was with Sarah last night; the friend whom I told you about in my past posts who recently opened her second furniture store. The opening was a success and she says the new business is doing well.  She also invested in a furniture retail software so she can easily keep track of her stocks. Actually it does all the work for her because even the payroll was made easy for her. She also plans on going online as most businesses now are also selling and offering their services online.  A lot of shoppers now prefer shopping from home because aside from the convenience, prices are way cheaper than if you would buy them in stores.  The international market will love Sarah's furniture; she uses green materials and no two designs are alike.  You are guaranteed to have a unique piece if you purchased from her.

Now we're Wireless!

My husband sorted through a lot of wireless intercom systems before finally deciding on Gadget Shack. Living in a building type house is no joke. Calling each one for dinner can be tiring because you have to climb a few plights of stairs and visit each room just to call everyone. With the wireless intercom, I don't have to shout to call every one down. And should I need a hand, I can easily buzz one of the children to go down and help me. It also comes in very handy when I'm at the store alone. I don't need to run up the stairs or text someone if I need to get something upstairs. Hubs feels more at ease that I could buzz anytime for help. Next, he'll be working on the ip network camera. We don't have much budget for these things so he does it one at a time. Crimes are happening all around us and just like the other establishments, hubs would like to have a surveillance camera in and outside the store. What inspired him to save up on this gadget is the fact that crimes are solved with the help of these cameras. There was one crime in the south where a student was robbed and killed. The camera caught the act and the criminal was caught. Not that we expect those kind of things to happen in our store. Hubs just want to be ready just in case.

Wedding Decorations for Marina

I thought I would only be helping Miranda look for wedding cake toppers and help her build the  seven-tiered fondant cake, but my BFF (Miranda's mom) also asked me to help her decorate the garden.  It's going to be a garden wedding for her youngest daughter, Marina, and the theme is luau.

Of course I'm happy to be helping them so I said yes.  I plan on going there two days before Marina's day; hubs will just follow on the day of the wedding.  My BFF is already shopping for wedding decorations; it's going to be so much fun doing the garden and helping with the cake.  It's still a week away but I'm already too excited.

Two Fire Trucks

Now this is something new. A little birdie told me that our Barangay Chairman is looking for a supplier of fire hoses. This is a great news because we've been appealing to him that we should have at least one fire truck nearby. Just a couple of weeks ago, there was a fire in the neighborhood and it took a while for the fire department to respond. It was a good thing that no one got hurt in that incident. I was also told that we'll have two fire trucks coming. Thank you chairman for heeding to our appeal. Now we'll sleep better knowing that help is nearby in case of fire.

Happy Mother's Day!

Dear Lord, it's such a hectic day
With little time to stop and pray
For life's been anything but calm
Since you called on me to be a mom

Running errands, matching socks
Building dreams with building blocks
Cooking, cleaning, and finding shoes
And other stuff that children lose
Fitting lids on bottled bugs
Wiping tears and giving hugs
A stack of last week's mail to read
So where's the quiet time I need?
Yet when I steal a minute, Lord
Just at the sink or ironing board
To ask the blessings of your grace
I see then, in my small one's face

That you have blessed me
All the while
And I stop to kiss
That precious smile

Beauty Secret (6) - Making use of humidity

It is best to apply body lotion the moment you step out of the shower, after patting your skin dry (never rub towel on skin) and before you open the bathroom door.  Doing so will lock in moisture.  If you wait longer to apply lotion, skin's surface will be drier, making it less receptive to hydration.

Low Energy Rates

I'm sure I am not the only one complaining about the ever increasing prices of grocery products, and high gas and energy rates.  I am also sure that like me, you look for ways to save and earn extra income to help in the expenses.

Not everyone of us are as lucky to live in areas where there are low electric rates.  My sister happens to enjoy a lot of savings from her energy bill since she has become an ambit energy customer.  I guess she was one of the lucky ones because she also gets free energy credits from the company.  She was one of the first users of this service and having referred a lot of customers; she was given free energy credits.  It is only available in several states but pretty soon, with lots of expansions going on, they be able to service the whole country.

Back here we can only avail of gadgets where you can plug your appliances so they won't eat up much energy.  The energy rates remain the same (always going up!) and there are times that their service is very poor.   I hope a company like that would open up here so we too, can enjoy lower rates.

Getting Involved

Breast cancer is the leading cause of death in women around the world.  In my family, I have an aunt who is a cancer survivor.  She was lucky that it was detected pretty early and the cancerous cell was removed right away.

My husband's aunt was not so lucky.  When she got sick, none of us new that she had it.  Even the doctors who made several tests didn't detect the cancer until it was already too late; stage 4.  There is nothing much you can do when the cancer is already in that stage except pray and hope for a miracle.  After learning of the cancer, it only took a couple of weeks and she was gone.  She suffered a lot because the doctors were treating her for a different disease.  We knew she was in too much pain but we couldn't do anything.

It must be in my husband's family because last year, we learned that another cousin of his was suffering from the big C.  She survived it and is now an active member of The Breast Cancer Society.  The site works to raise awareness and help those who are suffering from breast cancer.  If you know someone who is suffering from the deadly disease, the website could be a great help to them.  You can also do your part by sending your breast cancer donation to help those who are in need.  Click on the link for more info.

Movie Marathons at Home

Getting that popcorn machine is really a great idea.  My family loves to watch movies at home.  On weekends, instead of going out, we'd have a marathon and nosh on popcorn.  I used to buy boxes of microwave popcorn so the kids can have them any time even if we were not watching movies.

When I there was a sale on popcorn machines at the mall last month, I bought one.  What I did was buy a few bags of plain popcorn to cook which are a lot cheaper than the microwaveable ones and a few bottles of flavorings.  I've been saving a lot since then and the kids are having fun cooking the popcorn by themselves.

Tomorrow, my son's friends will be coming over to watch the Star Wars movies.  I'll be busy preparing lots of food tomorrow and hubs volunteered to make the popcorn.  I doubt he'll be able to do that.  Once the kids see my cute popcorn machine, I'm sure they'd be happy to make their own popcorn.

So you see, it was really a good idea to have that machine.  Not only do I save money from boxes of microwave popcorn; I also save money from pricey movie tickets.

She's Going Wireless Too

Now we’re not the only ones who's going wireless.  When my mom in law learned that hubs installed a wireless doorbell on our front door, she asked him if he could also do it on her door.  MIL has an old bell but she must be getting tired of it.  It's still working but she wants hubs to pull it out.  She found our door chime kind of cute so before going home last week, she and my father in law passed by the hardware to look for wireless doorbells.

FIL is volunteering to install it but MIL is doubtful he can do it so she asked if my husband could drop by next weekend and install it.  FIL is suffering from a bout of dementia, he might not be able to do it properly even if the wireless doorbell is easy to install.

So this weekend, instead of them coming here to visit us, we will all go there so hubs can set it up.  MIL will finally get rid of the dangling wires, haha.  Ever since she retired from work, she always complained about cleaning and how she hated the unsightly wires.  MIL is not the only one who's excited about this weekend, the kids are looking forward to visit them because she'll be baking a cake!

Cool Way to Cool Down

And I thought summer has ended when it rained a lot last week but weather forecast says we will continue to experience the heat until the end of May.  Hotter days are to be expected.  Hubs and I thought of installing an outdoor misting fan at the lanai but changed our minds when it kept on raining last week. Guess we have to go back to the store and get that fan.  It will be a great way to beat the heat in the coming days.

Green Fundraising

In the hopes of attracting more people to support them, my son's school decided to hold a nature fundraiser event.  Proceeds of the said green fundraising will be used to help the victims of floods and earthquakes.  Their school had been very active at donating to the needy.  This is actually what I like about their school; they teach the student to reach out to people who desperately need help.

They've had a lot of fundraising events in the past but this is the first time they are going green.  I think it's a great idea because it will draw more people in.  They won't only be helping the needy but they will be helping the environment as well.  I'm sure these fundraisers for schools will get a lot of support not only from the friends and families of the students but to other people who are concerned about our environment too.

The students need to come up with ideas and my son's class is set to have a meeting next week.  Each student will give at least one or two green fundraising ideas and they will vote on them.  I'm sure this is going to be a very exciting event.  Parents are also encouraged to join the fun.

Reducing Carbs

I was surprised to read about Kate Middleton's diet before her royal wedding.  I mean, she was already slim so I didn't see the need to diet. Naturally, I was curious.  I wanted to know what she did to keep the pounds off.  I've been in and out of different diets but nothings seems to work for me.  Could her diet be the answer to my sleeping thyroid?

She used The Dukan Diet.  It's a low carb food diet that can cure the syndrome that's packing fat on most women.  It calls for low calorie food and an increase in protein intake.  I better start snacking on healthy muffins and eat lots of fruits and vegetables if I'll start cutting back on carbs.

I did more research on this and according to the women who have tried this diet, it doesn't just pare pounds; The Dukan Diet addresses the underlying cause of weight gain.  No wonder many women are raving about this diet; you can still eat what you like without risking regain.  I am gonna look for more low carb meal plans before I start with The Dukan Diet.  I want to have a variety so it won't get monotonous.

Even At The Mall

Banks and credit card companies are going on a marketing blitz. Their agents are everywhere, even at the mall. I saw all the big guns of credit at the mall I frequent. All the best credit cards are there with their agents and booths. Some of the best credit cards even have gift items for applicants. An agent handed me a credit card application for their bank and handed me a pen as a gift for just simply accepting the application form she handed me. One even offers on the spot approval. One waives the first year annual fee, while one raffles off stuff. From the looks of it, these marketing strategies work. Judging from the long lines of applicants, they must really doing good.

It is a good strategy to reach out to potential clients instead of wait for them to go to your bank and apply for a credit card. People are usually wary of banks. They seem to be too imposing to most. This drives away potential customers. Most also have tie-ups with stores that give the cardholder discounts. Some offer zero percent interest plans when you're buying a gadget or appliance. Others give out points that one could use for rebates. One also offers points for every purchase made but they offer gift certificates for accumulating a certain number of points. They're really everywhere.

Right Wedding Decorations are Very Important

My friend is a wedding coordinator. Choosing the right wedding decorations is one of the most important parts of her work. She must meld everything perfectly. If one part of the wedding is not up to the standards set by her client, her career and business could easily fall apart. So far, all the weddings she had organized had all been very successful. I think her almost a decade in this business will speak for itself. She has several more weddings lined up. Her rapport with her contacts and suppliers is a strong cornerstone of her business. It's no wonder that her clients, past and present have nothing but praises for her.

The Secret to Looking Young

For most women, it is only when they are passed the age of thirty that they begin to worry the onset of wrinkles and start looking for the best anti aging skin products.  While these lines don't start to appear until the mid-forties, it is best to start with proper skin care as early as in your twenties.

Proper skin care doesn't need to be too elaborate.  Simply washing your face with a facial cleanser and applying toner will leave your skin feeling fresh and clean.  And while skin is still damp, you need to apply moisturizer to keep skin soft and smooth.  Ever wonder why some women have radiant skin?  That's because they took time to care for their skin early on.  This nightly regimen will delay the appearance of age spots, fine lines and wrinkles so you must do this religiously if you want to achieve young looking skin.  You only need to use anti aging skin products when you are in your forties.  And don't worry because although the wrinkles have started to appear, you can still do the proper skin care steps that I mentioned above.  This will help your anti aging product do it's magic.  It may not be overnight but you'll notice that the fine lines and wrinkles will start to lighten up.

Behind the Wrinkles

Ever wonder why your skin becomes wrinkled as you grow older?  That's because our skin loses elasticity as we age.  We can't stop the appearance of wrinkle; they will come whether we like it or not, but we can delay them if you start taking preventive measures.

1)  Commit to cleansing. Clean your face twice daily using a gentle facial cleanser.  Avoid using soap because most soaps contain harsh ingredients that may harm skin.

2)  Maintain skin moisture. Right after cleansing, apply a good moisturizer.  Lack of moisture can easily dry your skin and make you look older.  It would be best to apply it while skin is still damp after washing or bathing.

3)  Swear by sunscreen. Too much sun can leave your skin dull and dry so never step out the door without applying sunscreen.  Do it even when it's cloudy.

4)  Try topicals. If you already have fine lines and wrinkles, applying an anti-wrinkle cream would be a great idea.  This will help lighten the wrinkles and make you look younger.

5)  Curb crash diets. If you need to shed off pounds, do it slowly but surely.  Losing weight quickly can lead to sagging skin.

Unsecured Business Loans

In a bid to get people to borrow again, some financial institutions are offering entrepreneurs unsecured business loans. The transaction is based on trust. Of course, there is a limit to the amount. Small businesses do not need big capitalization. Financial institutions advise the owners of how to use their capital and maximize its use. This ensures a good return of investment and the borrower is sure to make his payments. This helps stir the economy that leads to growth and employment. Small businesses with very limited assets are given a chance to grow and expand. Financial institutions have realized that it's not all about profit. It's all about trust and stability.

Getting The Right Wedding Decorations

Preparing for a wedding in the family can be a tedious task. With so many women in my family, I have gotten used to it. Preparing for a silver or golden anniversary wedding is a different matter. My aunts have very different personalities. This makes getting the right wedding decorations even more difficult. We even had to look at their old wedding photos just to have an idea of what to get. So far, we have been right. All the weddings in the family were all perfect. We were able to give what our aunts and cousins wished for. I'm confident our success streak will continue.

Preparing For An Expo

I remember my husband's first stint at an expo. It took his team several weeks to prepare for it. The amount of material they had to bring was huge. Brochures, handouts, fliers and posters bore the big part of this. They also had to ship video equipment and other promotional stuff. He also had to take care of his staff's transportation  and accommodations. He made sure that they will all be comfortable. I can just imagine how tired they would be, and the expo was to run for four days. He had to make a profitability assessment both for the team and their logistics.

These transportation rate negotiations paid off. They got a very good deal. Their business relationship would last to the present. The negotiation included logistics consulting. This made their preparations very easy. Every piece of material was carefully packed and taken cared of their transportation and logistics partner. The expo went well. It was a big success for their company and they closed several deals in a span of four days. The team was given a huge bonus and a vacation. Their company not only made some very good profits, they were able to make a huge savings on the cost of sending my husband and his team to the expo.

Soaks for Health

Last week, I've been telling you guys about the second branch of my friend's spa/salon.  She will be introducing something new that even I, can't wait to try.

When she went to Australia a couple of months ago, she had tried going to a hot spring and it gave her an idea.  We also have hot springs here but they are in the south of Luzon.  She can't put up a mineral spa in the heart of Manila but installing a salt water hot tub is doable.  I'm not so sure if she will be the first one to introduce that here but I don't think I've seen it in spa advertisements.

I know salt water can be very beneficial especially to our skin because I read somewhere that it is a good cleansing agent.  The minerals in the water can soothe the skin and relieve your aches and pains.  Plus, salt is antibacterial so it can reduce inflammation.  Bathing in salt water can be beneficial to us.

Jann is already looking for hot tub supplies and she plans to advertise her salt water tub a few weeks before opening.  I'm sure a lot of women (and even men) will be excited about this.

Preventing Data Loss

Networks often suffer data loss or leaks. Big business, especially those with huge clientele like financial institutions go to great lengths to secure their data base. Hackers often target this to get information on prospective targets. Most use these information for identity theft. DLP is a serious issue. IT departments spend time and money to ensure the integrity and security of their data. Application control is the heart of this operation. Access is highly limited. Even presidents of companies cannot access these files.

With the entry of the Cloud, data becomes harder to protect. Data can easily be transferred or even stolen by a persistent hacker. This makes cloud security even more important. Data, like your contacts on your phone can be grabbed by just anyone. Telephone companies are always on their toes to prevent this. Unintentional access can also occur. Sharing use of a computer can sometimes cause this. A stolen laptop can give a criminal access to information on all your contacts. They can easily steal your identity and hoodwink your friends.

I can just imagine the investment that goes into data protection. The better the security, the more comfortable your clients will feel. The more secure your data is, the more stable your company will be.

I prefer chimes than the usual buzzer. It's more pleasant to the ear and doesn't jolt out of your senses. The new fad are wireless doorbells. I've ben nagging my poor husband to get me one. They're neat, more practical and without those unsightly cables. I don't know how many times we've changed doorbells. The wires go bad or the bell simply conks out. Moisture often sips in the wire's skin and just eats away at it. A wireless doorbell doesn't have that problem and the doorbell is less susceptible to the elements. My husband loves to test new products and I'm pretty sure he's just waiting for some free time from his busy schedule to get me one of these.

I have gone down to his favorite hardware store to see if they have these in stock. I've also asked the owner to explain to me how a wireless door bell works. It's easy to install and a good DIY guy would have no problem installing it. My hubby's a good handyman and he would want to be the one to install the gadget. He's having a 4-day leave next week, he'll finally have time to get me a new doorbell.

Who's There?

After installing a door phone for our front door, Our nest project are intercoms. I really need them as my kids and husband usually spend their time in their rooms and study. Calling them for lunch or dinner is quite a chore. A wireless intercom would just be perfect. I wouldn't have to up several flights of stairs just to tell them dinner is ready. I usually text each and everyone of them and I can be irritating at times. A push of a button is all it takes with an intercom. I do get tired from doing chores and I need a little respite after doing them.

I also want an outside intercom for our gate. It's a hassle to peer through the window or even go out to see who's at the gate. With an intercom, I could easily ask who is outside. It's also a good security measure. I've discussed these issues with my husband and he promised he'd take care of it as soon as possible. The last thing I want to experience is a robbery. This is why we have an electronic lock for the gate and a good alarm system for the house. I'm alone most of the time and I just want to feel secured.
